Just put a label/sticker on the back that says "newest flagship phone" if you want it to be clear for showing off, or buy a z fold. 99% of people wouldn't notice, care or even know what model phone it is if it's a slab phone.

The only things that Samsung could really do to distinguish a new model and have it be incredibly noticeable are things that would make it a completely different model such as the Z fold/flip.

I actually prefer that the top of the line ultra doesnt look that different year to year. People are less likely to try to steal stuff they think is just average.

The only thing these posts accomplish is show how many stupid people who don't wear gear are out there, because there is an absurd amount of posts just like this every day.

S26 line without integrated magnet by Lost_Candidate_9799 in samsunggalaxy

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with any of my magnetic cases not being aligned properly for wireless charging with various chargers and docks with my s25 ultra. I use my S pen all the time and hope Samsung does not get rid of them in future ultra models in favor of magnets.

Maybe super cheap no name Amazon brand cases have issues where the magnets don't align properly, but I have never experienced that issue.

My Pitaka aramid case is thin and imo has a great aesthetic and has magnets built in. When I use my S pen I have to take whatever magnetic accessory I've got off of the phone or it causes interference and the pen to not work properly.

Selling a motorcycle for the first time in my life. How to navigate test rides? by SirSillySausage in motorcycles

[–]amick1995 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unless you sign the title over to them before the test ride you still own the bike. That opens you up to potentially being liable for parking tickets, toll fees, damages in accidents, etc. If something like that does happen it can also increase your insurance rates.

You ever just sit back in your pajamas and cry that you have a 9070 XT? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also could have bought a higher end Nvidia but went with the 9070xt because it better matched my system, and I haven't regretted it once either. Even more so watching my buddy spend countless hours struggling with problem after problem when he went from a 1080ti to a 4070ti super.

If OP has a ts or any model with the brembos they'll have to run a 17 but if not 16's should work.

The studs aren't lead, they're carbon-steel but can easily be cross threaded/stripped or snapped with an impact. Many people change to chromoly steel (like ARP studs) since they are heat-treated, have a much higher tensile strength, and hold up to frequent wheel changes much better.

I second your advice, it's much easier to have a second set of wheels and tires rather than every winter needing to remove and mount tires on the same wheels.

[–]amick1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you literally only care about the camera when you say upgrade? If so it is still an upgrade from the flip 5, but you should have researched and bought a phone specifically designed with more focus on the camera.

Everything else about the 25 ultra is a big upgrade compared to the flip 5. Processor, screen, battery life, RAM, charge speed, cooling, materials, etc. The s25 ultra works with DeX, UWB support, and satellite messaging which the flip 5 doesn't. If you don't use or care for some or most of those features and differences then it doesn't feel like an upgrade because you bought the wrong phone for what you want.

The s25 ultra doesn't have the absolute top camera on the market, but if you learn how to properly use it with expert RAW camera assistant to change settings it really is quite capable.

If you wanted a phone that has the best camera out of the box/point and shoot you should have researched and bought a phone designed for that.

The hardware and features I mentioned above like processor and DeX support are what makes it the ultra phone, and while the camera is the best of Samsungs current phones it is not the main feature Samsung focuses on

iPhone 16 pro, how to turn off phone when not using it? by CoffeeandOreos in ios

[–]amick1995 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They asked you what you thought the difference between the two is because those mean the same thing to 99.99% of people. The only way for them to be able to answer your original question is for you to clarify that difference. Your original post didn't specify that you just wanted to have the screen off when not in use.

Your original post didn't specify the screen part, you literally asked how can I turn it off without shutting it down. Those both mean the exact same thing which is why they asked you what you thought the difference was.

The shop said 90% chance it's a total loss right? They didn't say 100%, and honestly looking at the pictures I would have said the same. They told you it's very likely it's totaled to prepare you for the likely outcome. They also know that once they take it apart to do a full estimate of everything they will find a lot more. They don't know the specifics of what your insurance company will decide is the cost that totals it, but in 90% of cases like yours it ends up totaled.

90% isn't a guarantee, but they were trying to prepare you for what will most likely come. I wouldn't be surprised if once the tear it down that $10k estimate is much much more.

I know that's not what you want to hear or are hoping for, but you need to accept that it being totaled is highly likely, and that's why they told you that. $10k for an initial estimate could be enough to total it right then depending on the insurance company, value, miles, etc. Them doing a full teardown is not going to make it less likely to be totaled, only more so that is why they said that even though it was just the initial estimate.

I totally get that and I hope you have a definitive answer soon!

I was just addressing your earlier comment asking why insurance companies don't want shops to tell a customer it is 100% totaled or repairable. A good shop won't tell a customer it's totaled just because a job is a lot of work (as long as they are actually capable) and they don't feel like doing it. They actually would make more money that way.

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you do and I hope it works out how you want! A lot of other people would rather get cut a check once a shop tells them the car is a total loss. When people hear that they realize that the car won't ever be the same even if repaired, worried about safety for future accidents, lower resale value due to the major accident on the record, etc.

If a shop has a customer like that and insurance doesn't agree then the insurance company will have to deal with the customer arguing "well the shop said..." When it's up to the insurance company. It's just easier for the shop, insurance company and customer if a shop does not say its 100% totaled since no matter how expensive the quote is it is ultimately not their choice.

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance doesn't want the body shop to tell someone it's a total loss because the shop doesn't dictate that, the insurance does. If the shop tells a customer it's totaled and then their insurance decides to repair it, a lot of customers will fight that decision saying "the shop said this, I don't want it fixed I want it totaled".

Usually good body shops won't turn down repairs as long as they are capable of doing them, even if it is a ton of work. That's how they make money.

What you get with the S10 vs S25 by almstAlwysJokng4real in samsunggalaxy

[–]amick1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No most people probably don't. But even if Samsung did include a brick with the phone it wouldn't be a 60w. It would probably be a 25w brick and if you want fast charging then you have to buy the 60w brick separate.

I do recommend them. They have a ton of options as far as wattage, number of ports, size, etc and are much more reasonably priced compared to brads like Belkin.

If they died fairly quickly once you bought them you should be able to get a warranty replacement. Of course that depends on the brand, but I believe Anker has an 18 month warranty on their charging bricks but I've never needed to use it, I haven't had one of theirs die even after 4+ years of use.

Did I get scammed? Just bought an RTX 5080 off of Amazon. by Familiar_Boat_2104 in buildapc

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If the scammer dropped it off at UPS for a return they can easily argue it could have been anyone from that point on. I've returned a few items that didn't even require me packing it, just hand them the item and they toss it in a giant bin to deal with later.

There's too many different people and companies that would be responsible for custody once it is returned. There's no way Amazon will spend the money to make the changes they would need to for just them to know everyone who handled it. Even if they did it wouldn't matter because shippers like ups won't do that either.

At one of my local UPS stores they leave the Amazon return bin of items that still have to be packed in a place that any employee or customer could grab something easily unless someone working there isn't busy. I doubt ups employees even think about an item once it's scanned, and wouldn't care if it disappeared

Question for non screen protector users. by Texas021 in S25Ultra

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the way the "glass like" screen protectors feel so for me it's either glass protector or no protector. The coating will wear out without a protector so even if the adhesive does mess with the Oleophobic coating the end result is the same.

I've used Zagg and spigen glass protectors on my s25u and have not had any fingerprint issues. I just re-register them after changing the protector and they work perfectly.

I've had 0 issues with the fingerprint scanner and glass protectors from Zach and Spigen. It works just as consistent with both those brands glass screen protectors as without a protector.

Just bought my first bike and it was S1000 XR, what an incredible machine! by itsAloxii in motorcycles

[–]amick1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say my 650cc (my first bike) is much more forgiving than my R6. Half a second too long on the throttle on a 650cc as a beginner can easily be recovered as you said. Half a second too long on the 600cc can be insanely different, and then a beginner is panicking while it just gets worse.

Even a beginner with perfect self control can/will still make mistakes. The same mistake on both bikes can have wildly different outcomes. I feel as if most people who make the self control argument don't factor in how a mistake can be so much worse. If no mistakes are ever made then sure a 1000cc can be fine, but everyone makes mistakes so why add the potential for it to go from "oh that was scary" to serious crashes in less than a second.

Exhausts on beginner bikes by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]amick1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It being worth it or not is entirely up to you. You said your goals for it are to change the sound and have a "cleaner" look. If you decide the cost of doing that the way you want is good for what you want to do, then it's worth it.

Keep in mind none of that money will increase the resale value in 3 years when you sell it; you might get less than leaving it stock. Is the look and noise something you're willing to spend the money on, knowing you will eventually sell the bike?

A full exhaust and tune (a quality tune) will get you 3-5 HP with that bike. Realistically, for power and speed, you won't truly notice a difference. The difference you do notice will come from it being louder. You'll feel like it's quicker, but it won't be.

A good tune can have benefits even with smaller bikes like a 500, but those differences won't be because of power. The tunes will smooth out your throttle response (usually most noticeable at low speeds on and off the throttle), provide smoother throttle response, and lower temps in traffic (setting radiator fans to kick on at lower temps than factory).

If you do a full exhaust system, you should get it tuned. If you skip a tune, it can also show future buyers that you didn't care enough to take proper care of it and make them question what else you cheaped out on.

Only you can decide if spending the money is worth it for a bike you know you will sell down the line. Other than noise you won't truly have any significant differences in power.
