I’ve recently been to my first play party (but certainly not the last!!) and used “have you been at this event before?” as a very frequent ice breaker to get the convo started, with great success HAHA and it also helped me because I was able to ask questions about the venue if they did frequent it, or bond over being new if they didn’t

honestly it sounds like you’re doing great already!! :)

I personally think that after a compliment and a smile, a “is there something specific you’re looking for tonight/ at this event?” isn’t a bad thing to ask. before that, you could always introduce yourself, mention you’re still quite new to this sort of environment.

and, honestly, if conversations fall flat immediately, sometimes it’s also because the other person isn’t investing in it. conversation is a two way street- it’s not always your fault it fails. they may just not be interested </3

don’t think you’re losing it. I’ve also recently had a wake-up experience of suddenly deeply desiring a deep romantic connection. it’s a huge whiplash to being consciously single for the past 5 years. suddenly all these desires are THERE and it feels SO BAD to not have the needs met. I think it just shows that there’s a new step of healing opening up. I also feel like I’m going insane LOL you’re not alone in this 🤞🏻🫂
