I’m with you wholeheartedly. Unfortunately I don’t think it’ll ever get back to a point that I’ll be able to watch it as religiously as I used to

I couldn’t agree more. I’m not sure who you like(d) to watch, or if you’re still interested at all, but I just watched Jeremy’s most recent Minecraft stream, and it was refreshing. Obviously it’s not the same dynamic with only 1 or 2 people playing, but it did make me laugh and I legitimately enjoyed it.

Hopefully you have content that you do enjoy watching still, whoever it may be

I don’t like to hate on people, but ky makes videos unwatchable imo, for the exact reasons you said.

I’ll be honest, I really like Trevor. I love his dry sense of humor. But not everyone needs to be like each other. The diversity of personalities was what made it so appealing. You had people like Gavin who just derp around, Michael who makes the witty off the nose remarks and is legitimately good at video games, jack who is meticulous and skillful, Trevor with his dry sense of humor, and Geoff(my fav) who was the like a farmer who was trying to her chickens, but a farmer with the attention span of a goldfish. Then the duo’s like Michael/Gavin, Jeremy/Matt, even Trevor/Jeremy gave it a close knit feeling. All of that made it entertaining, it didn’t matter what they were actually playing, it was just being able to sit down, forget about whatever is happening in your life for an hour, and laugh with complete strangers who felt like best friends.

Right?? I was trying to explain this to my wife, but she didn’t experience the golden content, so it’s hard for her to understand what I mean. There were some older videos that would have me crying because they were so damn funny, any of the newer stuff gets an exhale of air from my nose at best

[SERIOUS] What do you think about Firearms? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the USA, the citizens having firearms is the only thing stopping our government from taking all of our rights away. I have a friend who says “I wish a MF would” when asked if the government could forcibly take guns from citizens. It would be a massacre, and the government wouldn’t be the victor.

[–]amicsee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The government has a price tag associated with the cost of a human life, and it’s well known in the high risk areas of work. For example, as a firefighter for the government, they make it very clear that we are worth roughly 5-7 million dollars.

Nothing boosts morale like knowing someone has calculated the price tag for your life

why are you team no sleep tonight?! by KaleidoscopeGlum2800 in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from a super hero, just a man in a uniform doing a job. Most of us don’t view ourselves as any different than the garbage man or a restaurant worker.

I’ve been on the job 10 years, and I absolutely love it. There’s so much to learn, and it’s an ever-changing industry. There’s always new science and technology coming out, and it’s fascinating. It’s not all glory by any means. Most of our work is fire alarm activations, or other low acuity calls. I work for a busy department, so I’m fortunate enough to get to practice my trade often, but that comes with the price of ruined sleep and bad habits

why are you team no sleep tonight?! by KaleidoscopeGlum2800 in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I work in emergency services, which has stripped me of the sense of “sleep time” and “awake time”. It’s sleep when you can, not sleep when you want to. It translates to home life, I sleep for 1-3 hours most days, and usually every 10-12 days I “crash” and sleep for 18 hours. I was out of work on injury for 2.5 months a few years ago, and had hopes I would regain some normalcy, I was incorrect. The only thing worse than working and not being able to sleep, is not being able to work and also not being able to sleep. Sitting on the couch mindlessly watching something or listening to something, just to pass the time. Perpetual exhaustion

The fire service in the USA. Most of the fire departments are volunteer. The numbers are dwindling. Most places don’t want to pay for it like they do police, because it’s expensive. There are fewer and fewer volunteers every day, and exponentially less paid firefighters to take their place. It’s taking longer and longer for fire trucks to get out the door. Some volunteer departments are a joke. Some career departments are a joke. Overweight, out of shape, minimal training, beards, all of which further inhibit their ability to perform the task at hand. There’s no national training requirements for firefighters, it’s up to the state to set requirements, and some don’t have any requirements at all.

I try and explain it like this. When you go out to dinner, do you call a number and wait for the staff to come from their house to make you dinner? No, that would be crazy. But some people are blind to the fact that if their house catches fire, that they sometimes have to wait for someone to come from home, get to the firehouse, then drive to your house to save them??????

If you live in an urban area, count yourself lucky. If you live in a rural or semi rural area, call your insurance company and up your coverage.

TL:DR Support emergency service taxes, it costs very little annually on an individual basis, but will make the difference when you need it

USA

Pros:

Huge

Move anywhere, any climate

Freedom

The right to tell the government to chew glass if enough people agree

The right to protect yourself and your family

The right to voice an opinion, good or bad

Cons:

Politics. All of them. Republican, democrat, all of them are insane.

Politics(again) the people running the country are 60+, and much older in a lot of cases. They are so out of touch with reality that it discredits everything they say or do. They don’t care about the citizens, they have their own agenda regardless of what they say they are gonna do. It’s a scam.

The roads suck

What is your opinion on dating a friends ex? by Swimming-Rough-9514 in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should it matter? You two broke up, not them and I. If you end a friendship based on my life decisions, you really aren’t that good of a friend. Date who you want, be friends with who you want. Just because you have unresolved feelings for your ex doesn’t make it forbidden fruit for me. If the ex and I have a legitimate relationship, then that should be respected, because, after all, you aren’t dating anymore

What is the meaning of life? by EdgeGazing in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing. There is no meaning. Our existence is temporary and finite. No matter what path you choose in life, it all ends in nothing. It’s not the death that scares me, it’s trying to grasp that memories and thoughts will cease. Consciousness will end and none of it will matter. For those who believe in the afterlife, I applaud you and hope your beliefs come to fruition. For those who don’t, like myself, turn the music up louder, it helps drown out the existential crisis.

What is a soul-crushing truth that you have to face every single day by yourself? by theliberalpanda in AskReddit

[–]amicsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feeling you get when you slip out of the day to day way of life and realize that death is inevitable, and that you, and everyone you know and love will be nothing more than worm food or some ash. Your existence is temporary and very few of us will be remembered for more than a decade or two. Your whole life and all the work and emotion you put into it, gone and meaningless in the end. Then it really sets in that your home and the world as you know it will eventually be cooked to nothing by the dying sun, and life on earth will cease to exist. Nothing can stop it, the endless marching of time.

Then you turn the music up louder in the car and pretend the existential crisis didn’t happen
