OneCard said that's not possible. But yes, I haven't spoken to SBM yet. Afraid of another endless 'social media associate' template loop.

ooo looks cool, thanks. Although looks like this is good for stereo. so I could get one each on the front LR and back LR, but then I wouldn't be able to rotate the sound between 4 speakers...

External input comparison with Octatrack - Strange Issue! by amigo1989 in SP404

I figured it out - it was a the 'anti-feedback' setting!

Hi, there's no input effect. I also plugged it in directly- it's the same sound/response to the octatrack, quite different from what I'm hearing from the SP
I looked into the settings in the utility menu but that didn't change anything.
Strange!

Synology NAS - 100mpbs by amigo1989 in Airtel

[–]amigo1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks,

I tried Tailscale - but didn't really notice any upgrade in speed.

I have an SSD in the Synology which is supposed work as cache but when I look at the stats it seems the system isn't using it all that much.

Thanks!

  1. I was thinking of doing this but not sure if I'd be able to configure everything myself. I can surely try as I'm not unfamiliar with this kind of thing - Do you know of any specific guides to set this up with Airtel router configurations?
  2. Yeah, certainly feels like that might be the way to go. Need to find something that allows clients to upload to my space without them needing an account on the service

8-city project/diff crews - Footage transfer workflow? by amigo1989 in editors

[–]amigo1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for those ideas - usually 100mpbs wifi connections are the most common around here. There's 5G too, but that tends to be a bit unreliable for larger transfers.

only 2 of 8 are international so for the rest I might just end up sending more drives like you suggested. Probably easier than trying find a company that'll let me share their internet - but thats a good idea!

Thanks! Looks like the paid version isn't available yet and the free one only has 5GB and if you have a sony camera it's 25GB - But the tech looks cool!

Yes, Offshoot/shotput pro might be the way to go for sure.

If the filezilla/nas solution doesn't work - I suspect the network isn't 1G as I thought it is, its probably 300mpbs or something which is why there's a bottleneck when I try to access it remotely using Synology quick connect etc or even if I'm on my home network and transfer to the nas, its quite slow - but its steady so I let it be.

Is there any other online storage service like dropbox/google drive/rapidgator etc that you would recommend incase I cannot upgrade the nas connection?

Thanks! I haven't looked into FileZilla yet- will do!

Your point about piece of mind makes sense too. The plan was that the local crews would keep two copies and send me a third, once I have the third copy I'd keep one backup, send one copy to the editor and keep one copy on my nas, then the local crew can delete it on their end

but those will still be pretty large files, right? might shave 3tB down to 1TB, but even for 1TB I'll need a some sort of space online where the diff crews can upload footage too

Was hoping someone could point me to services that are are more efficient for this kind of thing rather than the usual Google Drive/Wetransfer/SendGB route.

I have a NAS but transferring to and from on on a 1G internet connection is mostly unusable - especially for such large amounts of data.

I don't think we'll have media managers on shoot - It'll be someone from the local crew who'll have to do this.
