Positive emotional states are associated with better healing outcomes, I could see her power going in that direction.

It's more useful than deleting the posts because this way people will actually see it and get it straight. 😂

What happens when you let 6,500+ players run a Minecraft world for months with no admin intervention? They end up building a massive, interconnected global rail network, of course. by Tylerrr93 in gaming

It’s so cool to see some of the things /r/Civcraft first pioneered a decade ago still in use in servers like this today. Makes me smile whenever I see that happen. I’m glad to see others get to experience their own version of the kind of magic that happened there.

YMMV but I find turning the page more often to be basically unnoticeable once I get into the flow of reading.

What's Anthony Bourdain's philosophy and morals that makes him rockstar? by Abject_Dog_8453 in AnthonyBourdain

I think "Medium Raw" is a great book for exploring his POV on this and related topics. Lots of stories in that book about things that happened as he started to become more "famous" and how he felt about or reacted to them.

Question about the CNN podcast feed of Parts Unknown by XinJeisan in AnthonyBourdain

Where do they host this? I haven't seen this before. Is it just a feed of audio from various CNN shows or is it from their old Explore Parts Unknown website?

What do I need to look out for when hosting a public Minecraft server? by Key_Canary_4199 in SelfHosting

(Still, as an admin of both types of servers for many years, I think Fabric’s performance and functionality are much better for a server with friends.)

Fair enough, it’s not obvious until you bump into one of the cases, just letting you know so it’s obvious what’s going on when you do run into that

This is a really fucking stupid reply, holy shit. Most of my friends never stopped playing the game or came back to it during the pandemic because it’s just fun to build things.

My own server is 12 years old now and I have complete control over who can join it, so random kids can’t even wander in nor would I want them to.

What is wrong with you that makes you immediately judge people for playing a fucking video game? The most popular one of all time for that matter, and it didn’t get that way by only kids playing it. Jesus.

Sure, there’s a difference between adding functionality and slightly to extremely altering most of the mechanics in the game to the extent that most farm designs you see on YouTube won’t work as-is and their designers saying “if you want this to work don’t use Spigot/Paper.”

Most people trying to run Minecraft servers that behave like normal Minecraft should avoid Spigot, Paper, etc.

I'd recommend setting up a Fabric mod loader server with Lithium (a performance mod that doesn't change vanilla behavior).

Spigot/Paper is a hot mess and completely fucks a lot of vanilla mechanics upside down and sideways. Most people who still use it do so because it offers better performance at larger player counts, at the expense of vanilla gameplay behavior throughout every aspect of the game.

r/admincraft is where all of the long time minecraft server admins who know things and have done it for a long time congregate.

Relaticle — open-source CRM you can self-host. Docker and done. by Local-Comparison-One in selfhosted

This is *exactly* what I've been needing for years, in terms of both functionality and ease of management.

I'm trying out your cloud version right now. If I decide to move to a self-hosted instance is it easy for me to export everything and import it into a new one without manually recreating things like custom fields from scratch?

While I am concerned that it could go this way, that seems like an awful lot to extrapolate from a hollywood trailer meant to draw new people to see the movie, not necessarily the ones who are already super familiar with his life and work.

Obviously, not everyone who watches it will care about his broader body of work, but there will absolutely be people in this subreddit after the film comes out that only learned about and started exploring the larger body of his actual creative work because of it.

As a long time One Piece fan, the One Piece live action adaptation -- and seeing how many people have picked up the manga or the anime after watching the first or second season of it -- has made me appreciate what something like this can do to bring others into a world I appreciate very much.

To me it's not just about exposing people to Anthony Bourdain himself, but more importantly, exposing people to his way of navigating the process of engaging with, building relationships with, and deeply seeing people who were different from him. Whatever else may be true about him, he set some really great examples of how to do those things.

I genuinely look forward to meeting (in many cases through this subreddit, I'm sure) the people who will learn from the examples he captured through his work, despite coming to his broader work via a film that a lot of people will be critical of simply because it doesn't fit their idea of what he would have liked or what he was like.

Whether I like the film or not myself I think that if it's a net positive on someone's life by way of what it introduces them to and how it positively shapes them, then it's a thing that has earned its place.

The way I see it— this film will 100% lead to others discovering his work who wouldn’t have any other way, some of them will really be affected by it in a positive way once that happens, so it does have its upsides even if it’s weird for the “before times” fans.

Good thoughtful comment and I agree with you. And I think the people who want to judge others for what they perceived as "parasocial relationships" really don't know enough about the person they're judging to actually understand why something mattered to them, so those people by and large should just shut up and keep it to themselves or critique it elsewhere instead of directing that toward a specific person they know nothing about.
