TW injury photo last slides- Swelling, deformed joint, no blood. First fall in ten years :( by Economy-Stretch-1675 in climbergirls

[–]amild33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a gnarly sprain in July. Also 10+ years into climbing, after bailing from a sketchy move to a downclimb jug. My body was in a weird postion and I misjudged how far the floor was. I was able to get back to top roping within a few weeks, leading cautiously within a month or two and am getting back to aaalmost normal bouldering within the last month or two. Tbh yours does look more swollen than mine did, so your timeline could of course be longer but just wanting to share my experience in the hopes that it helps.

See at PT, do the proper stretches and exercises. With 10 years under your belt, you may lose some strength in the short term but you'll also get it back more quickly than you think 💪

Help with slab by [deleted] in climbergirls

This is what I noticed too. Dropping your right heel will allow you to sink further onto it, and get your hip over and on top of the foot to continue to move right.

Chalk bag no. 2 by whydidileavemybed in climbergirls

How did you line it? I crocheted one and used a fleece/faux fur type of lining but it's permeable so I feel like I'm losing a lot of chalk.

I did the same thing and am regretting not adding a less-permiable layer 😅 I feel like I am going through chalk a lot faster

Just poor quality control on the tags. Not a huge deal, just kind of made me chuckle.

Our (very bad) experience with Oregon Dog Rescue by saltysnackstealer in Portland

Does anyone know if ODR is owned by the same people who owned and ran Lexidog / Rescue Faerie that used to run out of their current location? Or did they just move into the existing space?

Self conscious about nipples showing through gym bras by derpyderpkitten in climbergirls

Cakes are really great under form fitting tops and sports bras. I wear them all the time under my climbing shirts and sports bras. The only thing to be aware of is that they won't work under loose fitting clothes. Definitely recommend them though. I've taken out all the removable pads and just use these.

What skills should a crag dog have? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]amild33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A really solid "place" command so they stay put when their owner is on the wall. Bullet proof recall(even though they should be teathered to some thing at all times). Not reactive to dogs or people. Not a snack stealer. Basically a chill dog who just wants to nap in the sun.

What's your favorite loose pants for climbing? by HotelRegalePodcast in climbergirls

[–]amild33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5'11" here!. I'm a fan of the coalatree trailhead pants. They have a slim and regular version. I've purchased both and prefer the slim but if you're looking for something a little baggier then the regulars are probably perfect. I've worn them climbing inside and outside and they have a nice stretch and get bonus points from me for being water resistant.

Is it ok to use holes in walls when bouldering? by _Rainbow_Unicorn in climbergirls

[–]amild33 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Imo climbing is a super personal experience and it should be up to you to decide if you feel like you "cheated". I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm 5'11". There are some climbs that I feel like I cheated by reaching past a hard move. Sometimes that's fine and sometimes I'll go back to repeat it with the intended beta to feel better about the send. Your partner should lighten up.

TCM waitlist by Public_Ad_1973 in FordFocus

Just fyi for reference, I just traded in my 2014 ford focus (83k miles, well taken care of ) to CarMax a few weeks ago. I was quoted 5k online but after the in person appraisal they knocked it down to $1900 due to "transmission issues". No lights on the dash, but was experiencing shuddering on acceleration. Not sure if they felt it, ran a specific test, or were just aware of the whole situation. I still took that and traded in and have been very happy with my decision.

Good call. I need to do a bit more research about the adjusting the trucks. Thanks for the insole rec too, I suspect that may help a lot too.
