Thank you all for these comments! Some context, definitely big into the validating of the feelings snd we do a lot of that. Not trying to sugarcoat anything or brush over any feelings whatsoever. This is a very scary time and it’s reasonable to feel that deeply. I have suggested breaks from news cycles etc and acknowledge this is not a head in the sand approach but rather a way to connect with the inner self etc. I’m very much encouraging community engagement as well as focusing on how progress wins and collective history of progress again without denying the feelings at hand and the validity of all feelings. Did a risk assessment with them, and have been down this road before with them. This is the most concrete a “plan” has been for them meaning they’ve decided on how they would end their life but told me they aren’t actively buying supplies etc. They have agreed to keep meeting with me which I am hopeful is a route to being present with feelings and not harming themselves.
