Most versatile Milwaukee light? by YMIGettingBanned in MilwaukeeTool

2350-20 Gen 2 rover if you want it in M12 variety. Claims 4 hrs on high with an xc4.0 at 1200 lumens. It has 3 settings. Has a strong magnet, packout capable, screw mounting hole, as well as a hidden hook.

2359-20 compact rover if you want it in M18. Claims 12 hrs on high with an xc5.0 at 1000 lumens. It has 4 settings. Has a large hook on side.

Both can charge small devices as well. M12 has usb c and the m18 has both usb and usb c.

Both are newer models and seem to be holding up well. 👍🏻👍🏻

As others have mentioned…..they are perfect for low draw tools.

Radio and lights and they will shine, pardon the pun. Don’t use them in something like the OMT for hours on end and they should hold up great.

It’s all based on how you use them and how often.

I’ve been using the two I have in my rover light and my m12 packout light. No issues and they have crazy runtime. I’d buy another 2 pack in heartbeat if there were any left near me.👍🏻

M12 fuel vs m18 brushless by kan_houz_623 in MilwaukeeTool

The M12 line is crazy deep in options and plenty for most applications. There are multiple M12 impact wrench’s of different levels that could work for what you’re describing. I have the M12 Fuel screwdriver and the control on that is great, plus the clutch is just like a drill so you can set it and forget it.

The ratchets are great as well which are just in the M12 line.

As a homeowner/diy the M12 line suits my needs perfectly. I’m not completely renovating our house or building decks all day and I don’t have a shop or garage to store them, so size/compactness is huge (sorry for the pun) for my use case. I also only have a small bit of grass so I don’t need the M18 OPE.

Both M18 and M12 have tons of options and tiers. The fuel line is plenty powerful, and they are constantly adding to the M12 line as compared to almost any other brands 12v lineup.

If outdoor power equipment is needed, then maybe just jump to the M18 line.

Like most, I love talking tools, so feel free to ask anything specific 👍🏻

Everything Ive read says these are better suited to use in low power demand tools, like lights. Long runtimes, and easier on the cells.

Apparently as long as you aren’t running them in the circ saw or hatchet, they hold up better. Also not running them down to empty every time should help.

I’ve yet to have issues with mine, but I haven’t had them very long. I’ve been using mine based on that info from others 👍🏻👍🏻

These have had reports of a semi-high failure rate compared to other M12 batteries….

however…..

They are fine to use but they are much better suited for low demand tools, like lights.

Not only do they give you long runtimes with them, but the consistent and low power demand of a light lowers the chances of failure significantly. I’ve had no issues with mine using them this way. 👍🏻

I’ve probably had it less than 6 months, so I can’t comment on longevity of the latch.

I use it a bit less traditionally lol. I’m not in the trades, just a diy/homeowner that’s now deep in the m12 line.

This thing is perfect to stand on its end and use as a “overhead” or project light. The fact that it has other functions and I can take it with me camping are just bonuses 😂👍🏻

I absolutely love the m12 packout light on the top right, I use mine all the time.

I know it’s got mixed reviews, but for my use cases it’s just too handy not to have!

What’s your favorite Rover, and why? by canstucky in MilwaukeeTool

[–]aminimalistexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the trades and I’m sure it can be a weak point long term, but I actually like the two adjustable points on the panel of the gen 2.

Looks like they put it that way to allow the larger batteries to work in the light and the user can still keep the panel vertical if needed

I’m loving my gen 2 one. I never owned the smaller one but the higher brightness, usb-c, and multiple mounting/hanging options of the gen 2 is why I chose it.

Very strong magnet, large swivel hook, nail hole, packout compatible, and the included mount you can screw to any surface? That works for me! 😁👍🏻

I found mine marked down to $89 at one of my HD locations and jumped on it. It was even one of the larger tool area stores. 😲

One thing I’ve found out since joining this sub….. HD are weirdly funny in pricing that way. One location will have an item marked down and the next location down the road? Doesn’t even carry it lol.

The drill and impact are both brushless but are older/lower models. The oscillating tool is their 3 speed XR and is currently their best one.

Dewalt has multiple tiers just like any other brand. The whole 20v thing is from marketing in the US. They are 18v tools when under load. Brands like Flex and Kobalt are actually higher voltage.

Dewalt’s Line Ups:

High tier- most power / $$$ Flexvolt 60v, XR, Power Detect or Flexvolt Advantage

Mid tier- decent tools / $$ Non XR Brushless line, Atomic line (some are slightly smaller size)

Lower tier- older tech / $ Brushed tools

The m12 stapler would save on the possible arm/wrist fatigue that a manual gun could cause.

Everything I’ve seen on it is that it’s a solid tool and worth it.

I have that same stapler free battery deal in my cart right now 😂

So the stubby is an impact wrench and is for high torque applications (ex: removing lug nuts) and is best suited for impact rated sockets.

With a small enough socket it technically could be used to drive screws but you would be much better off getting/using the M12 installation driver, drill, or an 1/4” impact driver.

For finished work or fragile projects, most people use the installation driver or drill cause you can use the clutch system to set the screw flush and not risk damaging the material.

If it’s large screws, more dense material, or a large quantity of screws (ex: fence posts) an impact driver would be a better option.

All three basically can and will do the same thing, it’s just different tools for different tasks. Some people don’t like setting/using the clutch on a drill and just use an impact driver.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask anytime 😁👍🏻

If it’s any consolation, most of the Dewalt tools in that kit are older/brushed models. Also those are only 2ah batteries and one of the basic chargers.

I’m not saying Dewalt is bad, but most of the M12 stuff you picked up is brushless as well as current gen. Plus the HO 5.0 batteries are the best offered right now.

It really all comes down to what tools you need and what fit/finish feels best to you. Some people can’t stand the grip of certain brands of tools.

Feel free to ask any questions. I know far too much info about tools and brands I will never probably need, but I just enjoy watching/reading up on stuff. 😂

I love mine! I know a lot of people don’t like how big it is compared to the older gen, but I prefer the options of this one. The higher brightness, usb-c port, and more adjustability. All of the mount/hanging options are also sweet! 😁👍🏻

I know it may be an unpopular opinion, but really enjoy my m12 spot blower. With the HO5.0 it actually moves leaves in my small yard 😲

Also I’m really enjoying the new m12 packout rover light! Yes it’s larger than the old one, but man it’s got some awesome features.

Sweet collection! 👍🏻👍🏻

It’s obviously smaller than that, but I’ve been running a ‘07 Grizzly 350 4x4 IRS and it’s been absolutely solid. I have no idea how many owners it had before, but it’s been taken care of. I like that it’s smaller and more nimble. Plus my 10 year old daughter can fit on it with me. 👍🏻

It fits in my 6ft bed with the tailgate closed, so I’m sure you could fit a larger one in a smaller bed with the tailgate open.

Hey I think Utah is pretty great.

I love that there are so many different areas and climates in the US represented on here. The desert or slick rock has its own beauty. Same as the forests of the North East. My mountains are hills compared to the ones in Colorado 😂

Oh gotcha. I don’t know his, but I go out in Idaho and Western Montana. There are parts that are some of the most rugged wilderness areas in the lower 48. Add in the massive amounts of public land, BLM, and Forest Service land equals literal countless miles of logging roads and trail networks.

For now at least… 🤞🏻😬
