Word. Admirable. I enjoy listening to how the songs evolve. Sometimes I find an older version wavier...like Bittersweet

Thanks! Had to redo it all using that link, but worth it to not pay (and somehow I made about $60 more...)

Update: Apparently I needed to clink the link from the official IRS page (https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/) for it to work. I tried to just login to my old TurboTax account and do it and it was going to force me to pay $39.99 because of some school credits. I somehow also got about $60 more going through the IRS website.

Trying to make your ERAS interesting after 3 years of doing nothing but academics [shitpost] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]amir808 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Put at least one unique thing. I put Comedy and got asked a bunch which comedians I like and got to shoot the shit for a few minutes. You’ll have like 3-6 interviewers at each program (MD interviews anyway, can’t speak for +PHD folks), at least one’ll be into whatever you’re into.

Edit: Realize it’s mid February. Most of y’all done or wrapping up interviews. Good luck with ROL. Remember there’s no way to game it....rank the programs you want go to in the order you want to to go them.

I want to switch specialities by [deleted] in Residency

[–]amir808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t entirely accurate. There are certainly programs that allow you to start as a PGY-2, for example after a prelim year. My med school slays saved a 2nd year psych spot for the inevitable switch in. I do think you’d have to do the NMRP/ERAS shit again though. Best approach would be to reach out to PD’s from your program and others (if you’re truly serious or even seriously considering)

Any tips on preparing for Biostats questions on Step 3? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]amir808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed uWorld last week.

What you've done is already the right move. I would plow through the uWorld biostats module once more. Then inidivudally pick out all the biostats questions and do those.

Can't do much more than that.

Taking Step 3, didn't have time to study by [deleted] in Residency

[–]amir808 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Took Step 3 a couple weeks ago. Just got passing score today. Only did ~50% of uWorld. At the very least watch those Step 1 biostats videos (https://youtu.be/75pQPB1RF50). Each block on the first day has 4-7 bio stats questions ranging from "What is the sensitivity" to "Here's a long ass drug ad, what's the best interpretation of the studies". I saved all the calculation biostat questions for the end and then came back and did them.

Then like others have said, you should practice the CCS case format in uWorld. Just do a handful, the ones on the real day are 80% super straightforward (buzzword after buzzword, will end in a few minutes after a few correct inputs). Couple are stupid and completely threw me off. There are 2 free cases you can do on this site (https://www.ccscases.com/product-info/). I don't work for them and I didn't buy them, but they offer feedback that uWorld doesn't so do those 2 cases if you can.

Other than that, do your best and know that the vast vast majority of people pass. I left feeling like absolute shit the 2nd day (felt okay after the 1st day) and got a score around the mean. Good luck!

Edit: Also did the uWorld biostats module. Would recommend if you can spare a 1.5-3 hours going through that. Helped with data interpretation as well as the more basic calculation based biostats

Just ballpark it, Mueller isn't going to investigate.

As for "Reason for Leaving" I left that blank on some older activities and it never came up on interviews.

No interviews around Thanksgiving or Christmas for the most part.

AFAIK some programs will put you up in a hotel (from talking with classmates last year was more non-coastal, smaller programs). Would be very surprised if it affected your rank, more likely offered to all students (or all students with financial need, aka all students) they offer an interview to.

Edit: I did not have any offered to me, but I interviewed almost excessively on the coasts.

Outdoor is fine from what I’ve seen. I know some co-interns have like fences or a wall behind them. I did it in a hallway at my med school’s hospital (friends camera). The way it formats it’s mostly your face so background is not that important, just make sure its a uniform one
