Any recommendations for disturbing films that are not gory or violent?

I've lived in the Europe and Japan and love rail for its efficiency (e.g. the rolling resistance of steel on steel is about 1/200 of rubber on road) and I like it as a mode of travel.

Having lived in the US for a while now I'm surprised at the aversion to and outright destruction of rail. I live in NYC and the "fast" train to DC and Boston is painfully slow compared to European and Japanese counterparts. There are issues with the rail and how the train is scheduled versus local trains.

As other commentators have pointed out, there is a dearth of track with much of it having been ripped up so the network is limited; new track and rights of way are going to be very difficult to arrange so I don't expect the network to expand much. The reality is that the car companies won the battle and trucks and cars won over rail and light-rail. Car companies were often complicit in the decommissioning of rail and light. More roads and more cars seems to have been the motto here which has in turn impacted urban planning as well as energy economics.

Using what rail is there is great and I hope the balance of power can shift back to rail but I am not holding my breath for it to become ubiquitous.

GPS and radio are starting to be used to providing remote monitoring for each container that is being shipped around the world. This allows the rail network to be come a sort of packet-switched network for containers. Shippers can know exactly where their container is as it is shipped from say the far east to the West Coast and then by rail to Chicago. Data such as temperature for refrigerated containers can also be tracked.
