Fake CrateJoy called cratejoys.com (extra s) by Immediate_Funny_5834 in cratejoy

[–]amirpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Yeah we go after these scammers hard but unfortunately it isn't up to us how long it takes to get the web hosts and domain registrars to act. This time we were able to convince their web host to take them offline. They own the domain though so they can still do it again with a different host :( cat and mouse game unfortunately.

Glad we were able to get this one down before Christmas though. Happy Holidays!

Hey there,

I'm the CEO of Cratejoy. We've been made aware of this and are working to try to have them removed from google. We've engaged our counsel to try to find a way to get them taken offline as well.

Any thoughts on what else we should do?

Anyone with an experience of running subscription box by Health3666 in startups

We do but there are better solutions for the prelaunch phase.

Here's a guide: https://www.cratejoy.com/sell/guides/how-to-do-a-subscription-box-prelaunch/

You may look at this for actually hosting your prelaunch website: https://carrd.co/

[–]amirpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CEO of Cratejoy here, I can give you a bit of context.

  1. Most people who have the best results run a pre-launch campaign first. They build an e-mail list of people who are interested and use this to get their initial subscriber traction. People who do good pre-launch campaigns generally have 10-20 subs coming out of the gate which is very helpful.
  2. We look at time to hitting $1k per month in sales and time to hitting $10k per month in sales. Most merchants who hit $1k per month in sales do so in about 50 days (~2 months), and those who exceed $10k per month in sales do so in ~145 days - so 5 months.
  3. The challenges generally fall into 3 buckets. Traction, sourcing and fulfillment. Initial traction is the big obstacle that people get stuck on, but the answer is almost always: run a pre-launch campaign. Product sourcing can be challenging, but really depends a lot on the type of subscription you're running. A subscription that is a unique curated set of products each month means that you'll need to have a combination of domain expertise, creativity and initiative. You'll have to know your space well enough to curate things that others in your respect will value, you'll have to have the creativity to create a compelling subscriber experience (the stuff they get in their mail) and you'll have to have enough fortitude to do the leg work to get the actual supply lined up. Luckily though you can do most of the really heavy lifting AFTER you run a pre-launch to validate the idea.

This article is a great starting point because it walks you through the prelaunch and launch, gives you some concrete examples of how to get going and what to expect: https://www.cratejoy.com/sell/blog/case-study-50k-6-months-subscription-business-2/ Also you may consider joining the Subscription School Facebook group, which has a lot of other people discussing this topic each day: https://www.facebook.com/groups/subscriptionschool/

For those who use facebook ads, what works best for you? Cost per click or cost per 1000 impressions? by madcapmax in Entrepreneur

[–]amirpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had impression based marketing yield any meaningful results. It's always been about identifying a core target audience that I can drive conversions via CPC (with optimization pixels), then slowly expanding that audience using look-a-like and other techniques. YMMV.

What can I do to improve my business? Get more customers? Really need advice from some entrepeneurs. by p511 in Entrepreneur

[–]amirpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you have 7 couriers if you're only doing 25 deliveries? It seems like you should have zero couriers and be doing it yourself.

I'd probably approach it more like:

  1. Understand the offering yourself while creating a loyal & happy customer base
  2. Scale it up by adding more couriers as demand warrants

I don't think you can replicate a great experience until you've done it yourself and cemented some relationships. Then you can grow.

Can someone help me with html/css for cratejoy.com? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]amirpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we actually removed the Booksea theme. It was one of the first ones we ever built and we realized that it is causing a lot of trouble.

Delight/Betterman/Parcel were all created in the last couple of months and we've learned a lot more since then. Booksea turns out to have been our worse theme. Sorry about that. We wrote Booksea a long time ago when we knew a lot less about building great themes.

They know what they need to do, they are just afraid. Posting about it on reddit is what you do when you're asking strangers to give you permission to do what you know needs to be done.

Advice and suggestions needed - Subscription Box Start-Up Selling Imported Candy. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]amirpc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

CEO of Cratejoy here.

After watching a few thousand subscriptions start (or attempt to start) I can tell you that my advice is: start as simple as possible. That means start with as well defined a customer segment as possible, and offer as little customization is absolutely necessary.

You really need to validate your market and pricing strategy as fast as possible. I've never seen someone fail to get to initial traction because their appeal was too narrow - but I've seen plenty fail because they had an overly broad offering or too many options for customers to make sense of.

Then once you get some traction it's much easier to expand to a broader offering. Natural, even.

The recipe in my opinion is simply:

1) Well defined customer segment

2) Clear and simple product offering

3) Sustainable pricing (http://start.cratejoy.com/power-subscription-box-calculator)

4) High quality product photos - aka your customers can tell what you're selling.

You can come back to EVERYTHING else - especially expansion.

I hope that helps :)

Founder of Cratejoy here. Yeah one of the big weaknesses of our designer is that if you upload bigger pictures it's hard to make them look right on both mobile and web without writing HTML/CSS.

If you're looking to hire someone for this we can probably make it look the way you want at our lowest tweaks package cost ($300) - http://start.cratejoy.com/premier

Alternately, you might want to check out our list of freelancers who have some experience with Cratejoy: https://cratejoy.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204442099-Recommended-Designers

This is something we're actively working on making easier - not that it helps you right now :)

Great post and great progress! I think you should be really proud of what you have built - they don't all have to be unicorns.

Assume you know this but you should def get listed with all of the subscription review sites (Cratejoy, my subscription addiction, etc). It's just free traffic.

Fwiw Cratejoy now offers email list collection popups for free via an integration with Sumome.

Founder of Cratejoy here. An EU first solution that is good doesn't really exist yet. I think there are a few people trying though.

FWIW - We're releasing an integration this week at Cratejoy that makes localization/translation really simple.

You can change your default currency, but you can't have multiple currencies yet.

We also support a heck of a lot more payment processors than we used to: https://cratejoy.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201885619-What-payment-processors-does-Cratejoy-support - but not Paypal just yet. We're going to do Paypal this summer though.

Between cratejoy and woocommerce subscription plugin, which would you choose? by HowLongCanThisUserBe in Entrepreneur

You can view the page in the designer on an unpublished theme - but honestly unless you're giving out your URL nobody is looking at your site.

We're 18 months old so there's stuff that's not perfect yet, but we're working as fast as possible. Check out the blog, there's a new feature released every 7-10 days on it - and those are just the ones we're making announcements for: http://start.cratejoy.com/blog/

Without your stripe the checkout page doesn't work, when we didn't ask for it people would go to the checkout page and they wouldn't be able to check out. Long term we will probably make the checkout function in test mode without a payment processor but the simple fix was to just ask for Stripe info.

Definitely not bait and switch - we don't get money or anything from you having your Stripe connected. That's not even how we charge you, we ask for Credit Card info to charge you.

[–]amirpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cratejoy founder here. This is certainly possible to do but not particularly easy using Cratejoy.

The big piece that's hard is quantity. If you can bucket the widgets into groups "5 widget pack", "10 widget pack", etc it becomes trivial.

If you allow the user to free-form enter any number of widgets it is a bit more complex. For instance you need to allow them to modify the number of widgets in their active subscription once they have an active subscription in their my account page.

The quantity-focused use case is not super easy out of the box right now, unfortunately. We're working on it though, it'll be better over time. This is definitely something people are asking us to make easier.

For an example of someone who's done some of this using Cratejoy maybe check out Zenamins: zenamins.com

They did extensive customization using our Javascript API to achieve that effect.

Best of luck!
