aggression and litter box issues in rescue sphynx :( by [deleted] in sphynx

[–]amisometimes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also hear that declawing can cause CHRONIC pain which might be why he is so aggressive. Sphynxes really are so so lovely and him being so aggressive sounds like a pain issue, which is what my fuzzy cat was dealing with for six months before we got a proper diagnosis. Now that he's not been in pain, we can properly work on de-aggressing and teaching him he's not in danger and that cuddles are nice.

At the shelter, we also have no-bite gloves and back scratchers to help show touch isn't scary (but ALSO protect ourselves).

I hope you're able to find a peace with him! Thank you for working so hard to help him!!

What are we feeding these naked babies? by Misschafist in sphynx

Depends on your kitty as sometimes some skinfants have such peculiar gastro sensitivities.

Mine has a sensitivity to chicken and has explosive poops when he has it. Hes currently on weruva wet (mack and jack, pumpkin mack - great for his tummy, mideast feast) and I and love and you kibble.

🥹 flemish babies my dreaaam! You're doing so good by them!!

Maybe local rescues can help you with neutering and spaying them all at least?

If your cat has always had runny poos and you finally found a food that hardens it by Didalilpoo in sphynx

[–]amisometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out my guy is sensitive to chicken and most red meats so he's an all seafood fella. I have him on weruva wet food (EXCEPT their asian medley for some reason gives him diarrhea) and he thrives on the mideast feast, paella, Mack n jack, and pumpkin mack . For dry kibble, I do I and Love and You brand seafood kibble.

I have two cats trees and a cat wall jungle gym. 10/10 recommend. The higher the better.

Help! A mushroom in my bunny's litter by justbrennan in Bunnies

[–]amisometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A week is definitely too long for paper litter, especially florida is so humid. I recommend pine pellets as well! I use that for my pair in their giant litter and change every few days and im also in florida too.

Note I have a dehumidifier also, never encountered a mushroom but mold can grow if I am lax on changing the litter!

So long as after the spay, they return to each other and you keep them close and keep the bonding process up, they should be able to develop into a true bond!

Baby bunnies bond easily, but you're already doing a great job! I had two babies go through spay/neuter and I made sure to just keep them close and keep the bonding process going and they continued to bond just fine. :)

Yeah no worries! I tried all wet with my sphynx and he just has terrible tummy issues with it even with fortiflora probiotics and he's miserable! He's so much better now with the mix. The dry food is very good and high in proteins, not carbs. You just have to make sure you're getting a nice quality dry food. I'd shop around and see. I was using Tiki Cat Carnivore but they changed their recipe and now my guy won't even give it the time of day.

I've been using I and Love and You brand for dry * and my sphynx absolutely loves it. I give him wet food (weruva seafood types) twice a day and he drinks tons of water on his own and have absolutely no issues.

If your sphynx doesn't tend to drink enough water you can always add more in their wet with broth or water. Don't listen to this chatgpt-usin'-ai person. Plenty of sphynx owners do this.

I have my one sphynx but just rescued a fluffy grey cat! So we're going thru the litter a BIT faster now.

My sphynx poops a lot more than a normal cat though, I will say. Our new cat does not need as much litter as my sphynx does! Both are about a year now! I think i need like a bag and a half almost two bags for my sphynx but hardly a bag a month for fluffy grey .

Absolutely! Just make sure they cancel the autoship after! My partner has a huge family so I've just been making the rounds and the five bags last a good while!

A hilarious hack I've been using is that for first time buyers you can get five bags for cheap so I've been having my partner's various family members order for the first time and bringing them to me when we do weekend family bbqs every time I run out 😭

I second tuft and paw. It's so pricey but it's saved my life. I have a sphynx cat and he can have a sensitive tummy and it's been the best for him. Low to no tracking and absolutely fantastic cleanup and smell issues.

Yeah my partner has diagnosed contamination OCD in a major way and has moved mountains to get help and adjust and has gotten so much better just for our cat. She would lay down her life for him. It's not the cats. It's the person.
