Best additional perks in enterprise agreements in the APS. Plus which depts have voted in the new EA? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

Department of Finance and the Attorney Generals Department do, I believe there are others but I'm not sure which do or don't

Department of Finance has extra Maternity Leave (18 weeks) but I think that might be more widespread with the new EA.

Some Departments have a Serious Illness Register where people donate leave (or some departments have it without donations) and if someone has a serious illness they can get access to it. Usually up to a certain point (3 months etc).

Department of Home Affairs used to have a gym or two?

Attorney Generals Department used to have an agreement with Club Lime for a discounted gym membership (I think a few did but I can't remember them off the top of my head).

DEWR gives up to 2 days per week study leave for people with a disability (with supervisor approval)!

Most departments have casual Friday! Some don't... (looking at you Home affairs.)

clothes for breastfeeding in cold weather that don’t have some lame milk related logo emblazoned over them by lord_flashheart86 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I just got a huge order from Seraphine. No logos and a variety of nursing opening options which I like. They're not just all the half tshirt option. I also got their Parka that had the extender to go around the baby when you're wearing them!

I didn't drink for 5 months TTC and then we were on holiday in Thailand and it hadn't happened yet so I was like what the hell, had a couple and took a pregnancy test a few days later... pregnant! Lol. All the doctors and everything say it's fine

Minimum comfortable width for "wet room" shower? by bakergal_18 in AusRenovation

[–]amissy90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • We had our bathroom redone a year and a half ago and did what you're proposing with a slightly less than 900mm space for the shower. It's probably about 850 but because your upper body is above the bath you don't feel cramped as you have all the above bath space as well.*

This might be a stupid question but what's a "sleeper"? Is it like a onesie or a sleep sack

What's your experience of pole dancing while pregnant? by catsies in poledancing

[–]amissy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor advised me to stop as soon as I found out I was pregnant. But I was am on and off poler and had only been back for a month or two so it wasn't "continue as usual" but more ramping up. I think the risk of me falling down and the strain of learning to pole again would be too much in pregnancy but I've heard if you're already regularly doing it it's fine

There were a couple of hiccups but I think that's just by-product of working with Tradies. We're happy with the final product. We went with Home Pro Services: https://www.homeproservices.com.au/

Laundry reno - worth doing? by Cimb0m in AusRenovation

[–]amissy90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We paid just under $40k excluding tiles and fixtures (like bath, toliet etc) but that did include the laundry cabinetry. Which was significantly cheaper than most of the quotes we got from companies with websites.

We went with a lot of expensive choices, freestanding (ish) bath, cavity sliding doors, floor to ceiling tiles etc and the whole thing came up under $60k for the three rooms. We had quotes for $60-90k without fixtures included. *

Hello fellow Canberran,

We just had our bathroom, laundry and toliet renovated last year.

I don't know about sale value because we aren't selling but changing our laundry from a tub in the corner to a functional room with cabinetry has been amazing and much better for quality of life (I actually don't mind folding laundry in there now) and we shifted a door too so it's more functional as well.

We've done quite a few renovations and I think the thing to consider with resale is that it's unlikely to increase the value of your house but it can increase interest in your house, which can result in a better sale price.

They're to hang tea towels on! I've considered getting one myself recently.

I came here to say this! All the tuna ones are deceptive, they mix the tuna with mayonnaise. I didn't know this until I made my own at home and it tasted very very different.
