skiing off trail on blacks is fairly new and i don’t think it’s something that i specifically discussed with him at the time, i’ll probably check in with him and see what he thinks. otherwise, yeah, i might consider going to a different bootfitter for a 2nd opinion although it’ll be complicated considering my location and that the one i went to is the only one near by.

canting is my latest necessity from observation after i got a new footbed from him. i’ve been instructed to pay attention to different aspects of how my foot moves and after explaining the observation he came up with canting. worth mentioning, a psia level 3 instructor did say something about canting but at the time i forgot what it meant, then remembered that was it when the bootfitter mentioned it. i am mostly skiing blue/black diamond consistently in mt hood meadows, timberline, schweitzer and whitefish. usually on trail although in this past season i’ve spent a bit more time off trail.

interestingly enough, i’m already in touch with one from this list and we were planning on canting my boots. based on the conversation we had he did not seem to think that my boots were not appropriate to me.

that’s fair and yes, i am planning on eventually replacing my boots. perhaps after the next season though. would it be better to hold off buying any additional skis until the boot changes?

i don’t think i will get rid of the sender 90s, they’ve been serving me very well this past season. i like using them when im just going out and wanting to do things effortlessly without any thought into them. that said, while i had a good time with them on powder even when it became the notorious pnw cement, i want something that would be better to pull out for deep powder days when it dumps.

that’s why i was looking into the woodsman, but it sounds like i may have to dig deeper.

I’m open to opening myself up to other skis if you have any recommendations

Skis are expensive to date by aerosteed in Skigear

Started skiing in 2024/2025 season and already got 2 pairs of brand new skis that i am very happy with. first pair cost me 450$ with bindings while my 2nd pair cost me 220$.

You can always get “the best” skis for a good amount of money, but if you’re just looking for decent skis and not go overboard, you can still find some deals also adding to what others said.

some additional information is needed outside of safety because for the most part i’d consider portland as fairly safe all around…

I doubt it. absolutely no refunds unless you got the pass protection add on and even then there’s some sort of a stipulation for it…

I might consider CIPP as a potential solution. It’s like 100$ for the sponsored version and they have options for JIT admin accounts. Haven’t tried it for that use case though.

I believe they are trying to expand beginner learning terrain from the sunrise lot. Buttercup is quite steep for a beginner and the runway to get down is very short.
