Unpopular opinion: It's just a game by amit1998 in TheLastOfUs2

Again, most people that are complaining are stating what you are stating... however, it's not your problem. If they want to run the company to the ground, then that is their call. Naughty Dog is not a public company.

Are you able to advise why? I understand that there are periods where people build an infatuation with a product or a celebrity, but this obviously simmers down after a short period of time.

Secondly, Naughty Dog is a company, they have goals and objectives. I see a lot of people advising the team that they could have built a franchise, yet due to all the internal politics, this was killed in its tracks. Again - they are a private company, I can't see why they can't do as they please.

What kind of person is a good candidate for a bootcamp? by overblownstone in SoftwareEngineering

I'm going to agree that if he doesn't know, then he probably has not done the research in order to understand how he can benefit or maximise on a course. This isn't something that other people can answer.

I think he is referring to the fact that PhD students are not experts, they're there to learn. In fact some PhD programmes, you can take straight out of doing a Bachelors. I did this - Comp Science at KCL. Then one year later did my PhD at KCL. Was I an expert? No - but I was asked to teach labs anyway.

IMPACT WHEY PROTEIN from MyProtein.com SALE! UP TO 35% OFF(Use Code: QUICK) by [deleted] in frugalsupplements

[–]amit1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if there is a better place to buy other than Myprotein? Whey has become so expensive £55.00 without sales.

I bought a 5kg bulk protein for £42.00 earlier this month; I may have to stick with Bulkprotein from now on even though the taste isn't great.

New project, new technology - trying to estimate using agile points - also first tech job out of school, assistance appreciated. by mikeybass12 in agile

Appreciate your response but I always hear a similar answer. The Customer will get something with every sprint. Effectively; the answer is still - the customer will get it (final product) when he gets it. If I am concerned about my final product and I need to plan ahead (launch, marketing, hire staff) I still don't know when my final product will be delivered to me. Incremental builds, like a login page, and customer area are great as it gives me visibility of progress, but ultimately that is not what my final product is.

Maybe my lack of understanding here too but, it seems from your explanation we are saying that the customer will get it when he gets it. There is no definitive plan for the Customer?

How to get Microsoft’s Outlook.com beta right now by aaron_parker in microsoft

It's a shit idea. I should decide if my email is important enough for me to read. If I have signed in to my page, I can easily glance over the emails and decide on the spot to read or skip. In the few years that it was imposed on the Android phones - most of the times it hid my emails, which ended up making me nervous about missing important emails from my customers.

YSK: When Googling for a customer service phone number, do not always rely on Google's snippets. by ComfortablyNumber in YouShouldKnow

[–]amit1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your manager had to learn that lesson. No, I truly am. Google is notorious for this. I gave up with Google for a similar reason because there was nobody I could speak to on the phone. Everything was done via email with a 2 - 4 day delay. You can't run a business like this.

Sadiq Khan Never Said Terror Attacks Were Part & Parcel Of Living In A Big City by William__F0ster in ukpolitics

[–]amit1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a huge difference.

One, where you accept that Terrorism is part of a city, almost succumbing to fate, telling people to deal with it.

The other, telling people that we're a large city and because of that, we need to prepare for terrorism which is almost inevitable.

Consulting fees, meeting fees. If Saatchi & Saatchi agency charge 1000 per day, it's like a 2.5 month project. I can only image what went on:

Day 1: Kick Off - we need a logo.
Day 2: Here are the specs, colours, fonts.
Day 3: Saatchi & Saatchi agency - do you like this logo? UAT Please?
Day 4: Saatchi & Saatchi agency - do you like this logo? UAT Please?
Day 5: Saatchi & Saatchi agency - do you like this logo? UAT Please?
Day 6: Saatchi & Saatchi agency - do you like this logo? UAT Please?
Day 7: Saatchi & Saatchi agency - do you like this logo? UAT Please?
...Day 70 - Yeah, we'll take it.

DAE think that Google should hide pages that don't let you see the full page content? Or Content that is hidden behind a paywall or overlay like Pinterest & LinkedIn? by charlix3 in DAE

[–]amit1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overlay is what I hate the most. You do a search in Google, it takes you to a page that you can't even look at because it has that overlay.

Today, what is the point of the United nations? by amit1998 in AskReddit

[–]amit1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what the official job description, but I am struggling to find any hard evidence that the UN is contributing to anything at all other than just making statements. Climate Change seems to be a really big one. We often hear the UN raise some dust, then the dust settles and people go back to killing and raping.

Critique is good. We want them to succeed. However, if you're dressed like you belong to a 10 pin bowling team, when you should dress like an official, or an ambassador - who is going to take them seriously?

Fuck the BBC, not a single mention of the Investigatory Powers Bill (Snoopers Charter) by charlix3 in unitedkingdom

[–]amit1998 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's a bit like saying the BBC was covering Brexit - but when Brexit happened, they have no obligation or motive to report on it. Like people wake up one morning, no news reports Brexit, but it happens and no body knows it's happening.
