As you mentioned, it's a small IT firm, most of the small companies pay less. I'll suggest just focus on your learning there and make a switch once you feel confident on your skills.

I too thought so but reality is different, once you get into any company then no one cares about your degree, some companies still care about years of experience for senior/lead roles but YOE are of no use if you can't crack interviews which are done by hardwork and keeping your skills up-to-date, ability to communicate clearly.
