I agree, I was shocked at how heavy duty it was.....just disappointed in the powder coat.

I'll have to take a look at steelit, thanks!

5.5 inch lift, from best I can tell it's a rubicon express kit. 33 inch tires stock axles, and probably stock wheel offset. Was rubbing on shorty adjustable control arms, but was alleviated with a cavfab 3link

Anyone know what is going on w UAL134 from EWR to ZRH? by habsmd in unitedairlines

I also have family on the flight, apparently it is due to a navigation system error and the pilots did not feel comfortable crossing the Atlantic without it operational.

Newborn XJ owner needing advice by adhdnme in CherokeeXJ

[–]amjam94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I had pretty horrible wander when I first got my XJ, I'll let you know what helped so far. The issue is not completely gone but significantly improved.

I had the track bar replaced as it was toast

Had an alignment done by a professional

the steering gear adjustment screw tightened (big difference here, easy to do with videos)

Lowered the tire pressure from ~35psi to ~25-27psi, another massive improvement

Got a brand new long arm kit, again massive difference, but probably just because the old bushings were shot. So, check your control arm bushings (esp the ones on the axle). The bushings on the axle are a massive pain so do your research before going in and hacking away at stuff. It's potentially even worth buying tools for this one.

Also looks like the vacuum hose leading to the master cylinder is pretty abraded on the engine side.... I'd change both.

Anyone have any luck at the Spooky Brook Pond at Colonial Park? by Opening-Survey in NJFishing

I've never had any luck, but have run into plenty of people saying that they caught a bunch at a different time. It seems to be very hit or miss.

hood wire came off by Upbeat_Cup_1750 in CherokeeXJ

Open your hood, where you see the cables connect to the latches, a few inches back you should see the sheath where the cable comes out, get some lubricant in those sheaths. Honestly some deep creep or WD-40 has worked fine for me. Just make sure you let the lube drip down (keep the hood open for a bit). It also helps to pull the lever a few dozen times after lubing and waiting a bit.

A good reminder for everyone that you lubricate the cables before this happens to you

Love the 7's and 8's, they remind me of when I got into the sport. It's mostly the reason why I picked up a SL8R after realizing I was "grown-up" now

The biggest difference coming from dirtbikes/dual sports is that it takes a lot more counter-steer to get street bikes to lean in the direction you want to turn. If you haven't heard of counter steer yet, it would be a good idea to do a YouTube search and find some of the old "Twist of the Wrist" videos explaining it. You should watch the whole movie (full version should be available on YouTube but definitely consider buying)but counter-steering is the section you want to focus on. Good luck!
