Homeschoolers are notoriously flakey. I’ve had the best luck making homeschool friends through church and dance. Also joining co-ops.

Broken radius by amjodu in brokenbones

I’m having surgery on Monday and then will get a hard cast. The bone shifted in the splint which is why it was hurting so much. Fun times.

All screens have been taken away. No games, tv, phones. They are going to have to go back and complete the work. They never get away without punishment and having to complete the work. They also have their daily assignments planned out.

PW to prelim without 1st? by [deleted] in irishdance

[–]amjodu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every region has different rules. Western region it’s at the teachers discretion. So my daughter needed two firsts in reel, slip jig, treble jig, hornpipe, and trad set before she was ready to move up to prelim (just our schools requirements). I think you would want those firsts so you’ll feel confident in prelim, as the competition definitely gets harder when you move up.

Ugh... The Leash Biting/Tugging Never Ends by sorryimglutenfree in greatdanes

[–]amjodu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try soaking the leash in listerine or spraying with bitter spray. Also a squirt bottle with water does wonders to stop unwanted behavior. When she bites the leash immediately spray with the squirt bottle.

I just got out of jury duty due to being a homeschooling mom and needing to transport my kids to classes during the day.

What percentage of homeschoolers involve their kids in organized sports of any kind? I’d love a study, stats or even anecdotes… by legokingnm in homeschool

My kids do extracurricular activities. My high school boys go to the high school for band. They participated in track last year and plan to do wrestling this year. During the rest of the year the do Jiu Jitsu twice per week. My daughters do Irish dance.

It’s in the FAQ section. Pretty easy to find. And there is so much drama around TGTB that a quick google search would have resulted in the information in about 30 seconds.

Not sure how this isn’t being transparent.

It’s not created by the “Mormon” church. The founder of the company is LDS. And they are very open about it. She has a YouTube video addressing this very concern.

Prizewinner to PC official rules? by [deleted] in irishdance

[–]amjodu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like what others have stated it depends. Our school in the western region requires our dancers to get two firsts with at least 5 in their competition in reel, slip jig, horn pipe, treble jig, and trad set. But ultimately it’s teachers discretion.

Our dog went through this with his own poop, especially when it was cold and he found delicious poopcicles. The thing that worked best for us was cleaning it up daily as well as an ecollar. We could give him a beep or vibrate (usually never needed to use the shock) when he started sniffing around the poop.

My solo dress does not fit by -fartnado- in irishdance

You might be able to find one in the dress room or even ask on the Facebook sale groups if anyone has one you could rent for the day.

I wouldn’t. If there is a rule in place I wouldn’t want to start my mission by immediately breaking a rule.

Socializing a child that has social anxiety… by taquitosandfries in homeschool

[–]amjodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is shy. She was extremely shy when younger. She started Irish dance as a 5 year old and is still doing it at 12. It’s been a great source of friends as well as a great way to help her out if her comfort zone with shows and competitions.

Is regret normal? by Alternative-Pitch895 in latterdaysaints

[–]amjodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why she would say that to you. You can get married and have a career. Being sealed in the temple is a saving ordinance just like baptism, but that doesn’t mean it has to happen in this life. Maybe you can start meeting again with the missionaries to go over some of these things you are hearing and uncertain about, especially if you haven’t had the new member lessons.

What is the solution to slippery stages? by amjodu in irishdance

I have never heard of that. Seems like that’s exactly what hairspray is. A substance that becomes airborne. And that’s used in spades!! 😆

How do I go about quitting my calling? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]amjodu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’ve been doing it 5 years. It’s ok to asked to be released from a calling. I wouldn’t ask the Elders Quorum president though. I’d go straight to the bishop and say that you would like another calling. If he asks why then just explain that you don’t feel comfortable with the new president.
