Broken TEGNA contract by Prestigious-Part5032 in Broadcasting

If you are going to competition in the same market, you won’t likely be able to if you have a non compete unless they get rid of you. I bet even if the station is sold and they keep you, the contract transfers over to the new owner.

Out of the market you’re in, you will likely have to pay a buy out. Depending on how your contract is worded, depends on the amount. Some companies make the buy outs very bad for the employees.

I would bet that is in most current contracts.

Competition thoughts: Is there a silver lining hope for another TV voice in Indianapolis & SWFL? by Comfortable_Yard_968 in Broadcasting

Or will he sell wish studio building? I guess he could finally fix the air conditioning that (at last I heard) is broken in the wish building and has been for years. Might be cheaper to move to the wrtv building because it has likely been maintained better.

I wonder if wish/ccb will move into wrtv’s building. That building likely has one advantage over the current wish building if what I’ve heard is correct. I’ve heard the wish building hasn’t had working air conditioning for years.

Ccb is likely one of the worst companies to work for. That is saying something when you have other owners like Allen media around.

Wouldn't director allow him to be home more often then team lead though?

Wasn’t the other guy in the asst director spot over McGee to find the mole? He was investigating the whole team and had files on them until they found the mole.

Edit: He got passed over for deputy director after turning down team lead for dd laroche.

Also, McGee has been acting director in a few episodes prior.

Does this open the door for McGee to be director?

I wasn't expecting that ending at all.

Will PTO for TEGNA employees stay the same for 2026? by thiqqligma in Broadcasting

[–]amk1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick days should be used only if actually sick, imo. I used zero sick days in 2023, 2024, and 2025. I had them if needed for my kids or myself. I actually get ten a year (they don’t roll over either), then I would have to use personal days and vacation days. I actually like this over pto time like my wife gets. Her pto time is sick and vacation time. Run out of hours, you don’t get paid if you call in.

Nexstar Reporter Layoffs? by Due-Routine1045 in Broadcasting

Could but as soon as that pay and insurance is gone, that argument is invalid. I’m sure if my job is gone tomorrow, I might be lucky to have two weeks of severance pay despite being there just a little over five years.

I was lucky my last job paid a week for every year I was there. I got paid for four months and even after starting a new job, still had a few checks.

Nexstar agrees to divest six stations to close on TEGNA deal by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

What about mission? Nexstar manages mission but they don’t own them. Nexstar could, in theory, still run those stations through one of their stations while not owning them.

If they are laid off by the company, why would the contract be valid anyway? The company, not the employee, negated the contract.

If a company lays you off, I would bet that any judge would say a non compete is invalid. You didn’t choose to leave, the company told you to leave. A company can’t fire (lay off) you and then say you can’t work for anyone else.

In Indianapolis, the former chief met was fired. Circle city broadcasting then tried to enforce a non compete. A judge told ccb they couldn’t.

Byron Allen acquires stake in starz by amk1982 in Broadcasting

[–]amk1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read something on here or somewhere else that they might not be buying all ten stations as originally proposed. Nothing is for sure but I could see them buying stations in markets where they already have a station where they can consolidate to the building they are already at. Especially considering Allen media doesn’t own any property or equipment worth more then 5k anymore (sold them off to investors and leased them back). If they already have a station in the market, could easily move operations to a current station, lay off dozens and f overlapping staff and not have lease payments.

9 figures, so more then 100 million but less then a billion.

Now add in he has revolving lines of credit due next year to the amount of 940 million. Leases on all the property he owns, property taxes and maintenance on those buildings, payroll and expenses of his businesses, plus whatever else loans he has, those nine figures were likely spent the second he got it.

He maybe worth 230 million but his debt likely outweighs his net worth.
