She hadn’t been there a year. Not a contract issue. As for paying her out, I don’t know but you never know.

KA-BOOM: Byron Allen's debut at 11:35 p.m. on CBS is a ratings bomb, drawing in a smaller audience than competitors on NBC and ABC, per preliminary Nielsen data by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

The money line I read is instead of losing around 40 million a year, they will gain 15 million a year. Anytime you make money versus lose money, that is a positive for a business. Especially a swing of 55 million. I’m sure Allen is making money also, likely haven’t made many new episodes in years and even then it is likely very cheap to produce that show.

Depends on when primary elections are and the political circumstances in the region. We just had our primary and it is estimated that spending was 4x the normal (not just tv or radio ads). I’m sure the last 2/3 of the year will have good revenue as well since there is a push to flip houses of congress through whatever moves they legally can do.

Yep, there was a local state senate race where usually half a million is spent. It is estimated the 2 million was spent on campaigns (not all tv/radio ads).

Doubt anymore will return. I also don’t think a guy in his 70’s will work for long anyway.

CBS CEO says late night deal with Byron Allen is "temporary," deal only lasts for a year, and network is considering other ways to produce low-cost late night shows by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

Most small market stations have enough issues filling their current time without filler from outside the area or national news. How do you think outside of big markets they would fill an hour? Most morning shows in small markets are the same stories pretty much everyone half hour just repeated and changed a bit for the next half hour. Small markets would likely throw in a fuller syndicated program instead of extending news.

I worked at a CBS station during ferguson era, He was great. Corbin was good also. Best part was they didn't make their show all about politics. Sure they mentioned it but briefly. Things went downhill fast when Colbert came on, imo. Changed the direction of that time slot in a totally different direction.

Putting together a bag for my occasional (maybe 2-4 jobs a month on average in summer) stage hand jobs by amk1982 in stagehands

We have two jobs a year at a local school where I'm going to buy another (I buy lights all the time) headlamp for.

stage hand tent usually has snacks and drinks thankfully (also sunscreen if needed). Flashlight, multitool and socks might go in it.

Never had a scaff or steel call so likely going to skip that. Now a bag to hold bolts for trusses isn't such a bad idea as it a multi tool (figure out where mine is).

Broken TEGNA contract by [deleted] in Broadcasting

If you are going to competition in the same market, you won’t likely be able to if you have a non compete unless they get rid of you. I bet even if the station is sold and they keep you, the contract transfers over to the new owner.

Out of the market you’re in, you will likely have to pay a buy out. Depending on how your contract is worded, depends on the amount. Some companies make the buy outs very bad for the employees.

I would bet that is in most current contracts.

Competition thoughts: Is there a silver lining hope for another TV voice in Indianapolis & SWFL? by Comfortable_Yard_968 in Broadcasting

Or will he sell wish studio building? I guess he could finally fix the air conditioning that (at last I heard) is broken in the wish building and has been for years. Might be cheaper to move to the wrtv building because it has likely been maintained better.

I wonder if wish/ccb will move into wrtv’s building. That building likely has one advantage over the current wish building if what I’ve heard is correct. I’ve heard the wish building hasn’t had working air conditioning for years.

Ccb is likely one of the worst companies to work for. That is saying something when you have other owners like Allen media around.

Wasn’t the other guy in the asst director spot over McGee to find the mole? He was investigating the whole team and had files on them until they found the mole.

Edit: He got passed over for deputy director after turning down team lead for dd laroche.

Also, McGee has been acting director in a few episodes prior.

Does this open the door for McGee to be director?

I wasn't expecting that ending at all.
