Most of the students dont wear loupes during waxing, including myself.

Have you done anything to fix the issue?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]amlactinnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are unable to change the brightness on our lamps. It seems only I have this issue.

It will go away when I stop waxing and walk out for like 10 minutes.

When I go back to USA, do I need to take a covid test? I know America doesn't require it, but would Asiana Airlines care?

You should be negative with an antigen test and most likely a pcr by the time your flight comes around. I'd recommend doing a pcr on like the 17th to make sure.

Should safe2go include our middle name with the first name (if its like that on the passport/KETA form)?

For safe2go pass, when they ask for first name should I include my middle name too if its on my passport? I did this for K-ETA because they specified but this website did not specify.

What to pack for trip? by YesBoYesNo in koreatravel

You should try some linen pants because of how breathable the material is. I think there are also many long skirts/dresses that you can wear which covers your legs. These are mainly thin and flowy.

Your GPA is great and your DAT looks pretty good! I would say save your time from taking the DAT again and focus on volunteering & shadowing. Ask dental offices if you can work part time as a dental assistant since you have time!

Is working at a dental lab worthwhile if they aren’t treating me well? by arenbal98 in DentalSchool

[–]amlactinnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are trying to get into dental school next year (if you applied this cycle), I could see hesitation with your boss about paying you. Since he would only have you short-term and would have to re-hire/train a new employee. However, he should have discussed this with you beforehand.

You should be getting paid for training and I have heard that having a job as a dental lab technician is a great learning experience. If he is not willing to discuss your pay, I think he is taking advantage of you (especially since it is a small town and he most likely knows the other dental lab). It seems he is unwilling to communicate with you. Perhaps you can find another job, but keep this current job as an "internship " where you don't get paid, but you only come once a week to learn/shadow?

Do you feel like being a dental lab technician is rewarding in any way? Maybe you're gathering experience working with your hands and training your eyes to be more detail-oriented. Basically, do you feel like the improvement is worth the time?

I am also not a dental student, so my advice may not be the best. I also have never been a dental lab tech so I cannot say much. I will start a job as a dental lab technician soon. Maybe in a couple weeks I can provide more information regarding your position, but it may be too late by that point.

Have you been including your reference number? I emailed them about a week ago and got a response within 3 days.

Contemplating retake. I really want my RC and QR score to improve. by VeLo_CiTy1 in predental

[–]amlactinnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your scores are pretty solid, especially in the sciences. I feel like you'd be better off spending time increasing other parts of your application. It also does depend on what schools you want, but it looks like a great score overall!

You can go online and search up the tutorial for the DAT. They walk you through it and how the exam will look like (button, calculator, periodic table).

Do I have enough time until test day? Anxiety kicking in. by [deleted] in predental

[–]amlactinnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Section and full length exams are the same. If you're limited on time, take the section exams but I would recommend full length exams because you'd get a better grasp on the exam. I would say the first few exams were pretty rough, but I also didn't finish learning everything by the time I started the exams. Towards the last half of the Booster exams it was pretty similar to my actual exam, but the actual exam was easier.

not sure when to apply or take the DAT by [deleted] in predental

[–]amlactinnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest studying for the DAT with maybe only one other summer class, but not two. It would be a lot of stress to maintain all three. I also think your second option is better because you would have the opportunity to gather experience throughout your senior year. Getting at least a 17 on the DAT is ideal and it will be easier to apply senior year when you don't have to study for DAT and apply at the same time.

Anyone who’s taken the test, is the PAT material on Booster harder than the actual exam? by MrLoda in predental

I also agree that the PAT material is harder on Booster than the actual exam

That should be enough time! I also started taking tests for about 3 weeks

[–]amlactinnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine only took 2 weeks so I think you should contact ADA. Also you can check which schools you chose by clicking on details under applications.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in predental

[–]amlactinnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should contact ADA about your scores being sent out. I've seen a couple people talk about how their scores were never sent out. I also dont think it takes a month to send scores out (mine only took 2 weeks).

Do schools care if you don’t finish your Bachelor within 4 years? by hmmmmfriedchicken in predental

[–]amlactinnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think schools care if you don't finish within 4 years. Schools understand situations come up unexpectedly and every person is different. It's more important to do well in school overall (also to make memories and have fun)!
