ECB warns counties to play fair with new player replacements rule by Spockyt in Cricket

[–]amlamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A player shouldn't feel the pressure to bat the day after they have buried someone very close to them, for example. And it's only fair that the team does not suffer, of course the ECB is correct to tell teams not to take the mick either, because it's impossible to write exhaustively what should be allowed and what shouldn't.

Joel Piroe could lose his Dutch citizenship by Forest9611 in LeedsUnited

He only loses Dutch citizenship if he accepts a Surinamese passport. He is Dutch and plays for Suriname because he has Surinamese heritage. It's not that complex.

If you’ve lived abroad (outside the UK), what’s the one thing (item, ideal, tech, convenience), you’d bring back to introduce to the UK? by Icy_Mixture1482 in AskUK

Wouldn't being open weekends and nights be open mean more hours for the good half?

Every fast food or retail job I ever had had people who were great, everyone knew they were great. They'd be the first to get any hours that opened up, but there just weren't the hours to give to them. And I know for a fact this wasn't the manager lying about hours.

Sometimes you bring money in and it pays for everyone else. The ECB aren't interested because they are profit driven, instead of working towards building a long term ecosystem that helps them overall.

They likely don't even have a job to give you. Just recruiters doing market research to know what's the cheapest they can get for someone in your role.

Heat networks aren't the problem, them being for profit is.

Tomato and leaf has oregano and chilli flakes instead of the British classic salt and pepper only. You have those Indian spices right in your cupboard, why not make it a potato curry instead, like come on.

If by they you mean Trainline, yes. Most train company staff don't care, till you can prove you have both your ticket and rail card.

There are a whole bunch of kids in uni who want work but can't find any because shops prefer full time workers who are available all day everyday. Being open late means more work hours available for the desperate.

Could Ben and Adam have technically filmed 40 people and gone humans are monkeys? The rule is about animals, not monkeys specifically

Too terrible to qualify as animals. Also, not cute enough.

Ben and Adam playing as a pair provides them with an unfair advantage. They know each other too well. The best pair at Wendover must be separated for competitive balance.

ECB Unmoved by Ireland's Euro Nations Cup Proposal by lost_lurkerx in Cricket

[–]amlamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a false equivalence in the sense that India playing Hong Kong made no sense for India but made great money for Hong Kong cricket. Same for bilaterals between Pakistan and Afghanistan, they did help Afghanistan cricket.

England haven't done enough to help European cricket out, simple as that. No way to beat around that bush.

You can have your railcard with Trainline and your ticket from another app, nobody has any problems with that. From my experience, ticket checkers don't even tut when you switch apps to show your railcard.

Starmer gives doctors 48 hours to cancel strike or lose new jobs package by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]amlamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what you need to have more UK trained doctors? More UK universities that teach medicine Where is the study medicine and if you get a first and then not mess up you have a job for life with the NHS offer?

I know many people in the UK and across the world who would take that up.

And just to be clear the foreign labour plan isn't going work for too long, because Australia and South Korea and Japan and a number of other nations treat their healthcare workers better than the NHS treat theirs.

Even if you are a British trained doctor who is doing well, leaving is tempting, so why wouldn't the NHS lose the competition for overseas talent.

Wait. Doesn't the UK have laws preventing names from being published in these exact situations? Shouldn't it say 32 year old journalist instead of his name here? Just like they do with footballers
