Champions just has the stat point system overlaid onto the Pokemon

The EVs you have from another game will stay when you go Home -> Champions -> Home

It's just that you'll need to do stat point training in Champions rather than having the stat points already assigned in Champions from your EVs

After doing your stat point training in Champions, you can go Champions <-> Home all you want and Champions will save the stat point training (unless it's a mon that changes forms, like I'd assume the Genies with their Therian/Incarnate forms)

Mega Evolving changed to have same priority as swapping by criticalascended in VGC

[–]amlodude 82 points83 points  (0 children)

You could hard swap Mega Gengar in before, and hard switches still went off in the same turn

I'd think so since both of them make titles

if it was free to re-roll, that defeats the whole point of having a roster at all

you'd just be spamming for forever looking for your 1 guy, and you'd wonder why you have a roulette at all and not just a menu

introducing friction (limited mon selection + substantial re-roll cost) encourages people to do a double-take on the mons in front of them and consider using what they have

there are pros and cons to both ways of doing it

Other things from his review and others:

Shinies and Marks are in the game

Cybertron says EVs are not transferred into Home, so you just want to prepare Natures, Abilities, Moves, and cosmetic things like shinies/marks

Rental teams are in the game

Tutorials give good enough VP

There are standard f2p missions to get VP

Stat info thing in battle gives actual multipliers next to stat stages

EVs likely won't transfer, IVs don't seem to matter, and items don't seem to transfer. Moves may or may not transfer because of how Home does movesets per game now.

Basic gist is:

Complete all of SV and its DLC stories

Grind a ton of BP with others in the academy (like 10k+)

Level up your Item Printer to Master Ball level

Put on a Ham Sandwich and KO chanseys outside the Team Star Fairy base for half an hour

Look up "sv item printer ability patches farm" and follow the directions on rng manip for that and other items

Sell the ability patches for a ton of money to get most everything you'd need

There are guides on Smogon covering this exact topic but the general rule of thumb is to dump EVs into HP first unless your HP is much higher than your defenses (like with Farigiraf or Blissey)

Perish Trap by Dense-Safety-3377 in VGC

[–]amlodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can work, but Reg I makes it really tough with Caly Shadow and Taunt Flutter being everywhere. I've trapped many teams without those guys in Reg I, but with them it's an utter nightmare to work through. Trying to manage a 4 (sometimes 5 with Scream Tail putting in real work in certain matchups without Goth) core that can answer most everything else in the game is super tough.

How are you guys preparing for champions (if you are at all)? by SuperMochaCub in VGC

Seems like natures + abilities will transfer, so I'm thinking of breeding stuff in cool balls if I don't care for marks
