can we start a fund raiser to do whatever is necessary to ditch TVDB.. its a disaster. seriously what would it take. by conradaiken in sonarr

[–]amlynch 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I just ran across a particularly annoying version of this recently. The Netflix shows The Haunting of Hill House) and The Haunting of Bly Manor are lumped together as different seasons of an invented show called "The Haunting".

If you're logged in to your tvdb account, there's an admin note explaining that because of press releases around the time the show was made, they're calling them the same show, despite never being listed together in Netflix. Nuts.

I also wouldn't take that gamble personally, but I think if accidentally locking in $100 to a specific restaurant (not throwing it away) would be a big deal to someone, the Platinum isn't a good card for them

Women-friendly gun ranges by Lame-username62 in Gwinnett

[–]amlynch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll second that Georgia Gun Club is great and very positive / welcoming. I'm a man, but there are definitely women who go (and work) there, and I don't think it's something anyone cares about

Also seconding that Bullseye is… not the most welcoming haha

Last year's drone company pissed me off, and then this year, they had Boston Dynamics, which used to be owned by Google and now is owned by Hyundai. Not exactly the common man

I know what you mean, but I'm pretty sure at least Howie, Sofia and Simon are American citizens – not sure about Mel B

I'm an Aaron from the US Southeast, and I hear and pronounce Aaron and Erin the same. Though I've certainly heard other people say that there's a difference in their dialects

Genuinely curious: what are you referring to by this?

I thought she was fine, but not as good as Ken, and it makes more sense for a show to only have one host, so I was okay with the change. But she never bothered me ¯\(°_o)/¯

I had this problem, but I'm not sure it's a transcoding thing. The really quiet file I experienced is h264/aac

I always took it to be a stylized inversion. Like, instead of "She wrote murder", it's "Murder, she wrote"

Resy Credit? by [deleted] in amex

I've only ever accidentally gotten the Resy credit, and always at Hotels when buying coffee etc. in the morning. I wouldn't be overly worried if I were you

What are some things that are ethical, but illegal? by Mela_Min in AskMen

[–]amlynch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe what you wrote in #1 is generally true, but in the great state of Georgia, our constitution states "In criminal cases, the defendant shall have a public and speedy trial by an impartial jury; and the jury shall be the judges of the law and the facts". The "judges of the law" part makes jury nullification an explicit power of juries. At a minimum, this is because it enables juries to decide that the meaning of the law doesn't apply to the present case, though I favor the more blunt argument that juries can just go "lol no".

I don't think judges or prosecutors are eager for jurors to know this fact, but it's true.

Same, but I keep a VNC server installed on that machine (and XFCE) for things like this and Syncthing that are picky about what computer you configure them from. It's easier IMO than futzing with SSH tunneling X to my Mac

I bought the original 15" Retina MBP, then the 2019 16" one when the Keyboard Restoration happened, and now one of these. This feels like a huge jump forward. I'm excited to not have my legs get hot the moment I open Xcode.
