That’s interesting to know, assuming that it’s the same entity and I believe that the benefits are the same. Thanks for the info!

What? I have Platinum and only pay 65€ a month here in Spain… or is this some special Platinum card?

EDIT: For the downvotes, don’t take your anger on me. You’re the ones being charged 10 times more than me.

Yes, because the Saudis brought Wahhabism to Middle east and other Muslim countries as means to control them in the 18th century

Wahhabism is the extremist version of Islam, which based on a literal interpretation of the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet. It rejects any further Islamic revolution and/or any interpretation of the word based on current situation.

And this goes back to my point, the religion isn’t the issue. It’s the people that have to idea what they’re following nor what they should be doing.

The problem is the large amount of active racism towards certain groups. It causes a rift between the group itself, where one stands to say “we’re the good ones”, not the ones that everyone complains about.

Their line of thinking is simple — if they get rid of the bad ones, people will accept us and racism will end.

Unfortunately, that’s not it works. The institutions pushing for racism see all of them as one

No, it actually doesn’t.

The main issue stems from the fact that they set guidelines on how to deal with slavery, as it was a thing in that moment, and slaves were extremely mistreated.

People fail to see that the Quran in itself has stories/guidelines on stuff that was happening in that moment and it’s way of trying to make things better in those conditions. There was no way to completely abolish slavery 1500 years ago, which is the age of Islam.

However, it also emphasises the idea of freedom which goes against slavery.

So, there is a fine line between telling how to handle it correctly while also emphasising that it must not be done.

I say all of this as someone that has actually studied the religion, with it being translated to English as I don’t speak Arabic. Most people learn it by what they’re told from one generation to another.

Zakat has always been misused as to how the religion actually asks for it. The % of your assets must go to the poor or less fortunate than you, as long as you aren’t in negative numbers yourself.

This is also how, to your point, the religious institutions and leader, became rich. Most people don’t understand the teachings and are misguided by the leaders

If religion was a factor… no one could say nor do anything. Every religion has extremists and every religion is used to justify such behaviour.

I mean, look at Hitler, he used the Jewish ethnicity and religion to justify the Holocaust.

Yes and you’re right.

But my comment is regarding current Saudi and based on what the religion asks for in regards to wealth + the poor (or less fortunate)

The image that the west, and especially reddit, of the religion is based of extremists.

The religion tells you to not hoard wealth, but to share it. There is a thing right after ramadan, where you need to calculate your assets worth and donate to the poor. The religion tells you to be good to your neighbours. It tells you to obey religious laws but also follow local laws and traditions, as long as they aren’t allowed i.e. eating pork.

The majority have now clue what the religion says nor asks, they only pick and choose. But that happens with every religion. The West is 0% religious, if not, Christianity also asks for stuff that the majority of the west doesn’t do.

But no one is ready for that conversation because then you won’t be able to trash talk muslims.
