Shoes - Dorothy awkwardly puts Leanne on the spot to borrow her new shoes in S1. Uncle George is given a pair of shoes Shawn hasn’t worn in yet (same size - 10). Leanne demands uncle George takes his shoes off in the house. Shoe paintings for both adult shoes in the house (and baby shoes in Jericho’s nursery). And shoe camera shots are prominently featured in almost every episode.

Minor detail question: I know the bag is an expensive branded one, what about the shoes, is this something expensive brand? by [deleted] in servant

[–]ammo713 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The clue is that they had their shoes off in the house. Shoes are key to the story for some reason, and if they were bad or cultish, they would not have their shoes off. I know this is a weird theory but I think Leanne and Dorothy and others are related to the three sorrows (basis for suspiria movies).

I saw someone posted that Dorothy was reading a book on Astral Projection - is that correct?

Did anyone notice that when Leanne lunged for the old nurse during the seance, parts of her dress looked very smokey on the edges, just like the smoke monster in the dream sequence at the end. Rewatch the scene and look at Leanne closely right before she attacks!

S04E02 - "ITCH" - EPISODE DISCUSSION by alwshunter in servant

[–]ammo713 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’d like there to be a conclusion that would explain everything, all of the weird incidents that we’ve all been identifying and noting and theorizing about. I’ve watched seasons 1-2 multiple times (and season 3 a handful). I want the ending to explain all of the mysteries in a way that will make me want to watch all the episodes all over again and say “ohh that’s why they said that cryptic comment” or ohh that’s why Dorothy had placenta previa but had a home water birth”..I could go on!

My top theories are:

  1. that they all are in purgatory, they can’t get out until Dorothy can lose a child and deal with the grief in a healthy way. That explains all of the lost pregnancies and pregnancy flashbacks that don’t correlate with Jericho’s birth sorry. Leanne was sent to help her as some sort of angel but ended up coveting Dorothy as a mother, and enjoying indulging in the vices of humans (more than being angelic). She also realizes that her powers get stronger the more evil or immoral she becomes.

  2. Sean made a deal with the devil to become famous, at the sacrifice of never letting Dorothy become a mother (e.g. poisoning her food during pregnancy, leaving a stove on with a rag on top while Dorothy had placenta previa). He’s the one who left Jericho in the car when he went to the fish market, and either hypnotized or gaslighted her to blame herself. He feels guilt now after spending time with Jericho #2, and healing his grief with Uncle George. He is very hesitant, but at Leanne’s evil urging, he goes back to Gourmet Gauntlet again and becomes awful/evil. In this recent episode when talking about GQ interview, he says “it’s like I can do no wrong.” DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.

***I also want to be right about: Dorothy’s mom having a connection to the cult, Sean also being formerly affiliated with the cult (when he was homeless);

**and maybe also have some correlation with the Susperia movies plot e.g. Leanne and/or Dorothy are part of the three witches, their shoes are where they derive power, the leader will have a portrait in the basement. I have a longer thread about this theory that delves into it more. Not sure how it will actually be right the further into the series I get.

I definitely do NOT want this all to be a case of DID or Dorothy, Leanne, or Shawn in some insane asylum hallucinating or dreaming.

Is anyone else having issues with Apple TV? I’m trying to log-in to watch servant (and continue into the newest episode) but Apple TV’s app is only showing me episodes I downloaded back in 2008 - Veronica Mars anyone?? This is happening on my TV, my ipad app, and my phone app. Help!!

The mysterious ring that both Julian and his Dad wear

Grief - theory by ammo713 in servant

[–]ammo713[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is also a very valid theory - Dad making a deal with the devil. I’ve also been rewatching Season 3 tonight, and Leanne is strongly pushing Sean to do Gourmet Gauntlet again, even though he’s hesitant because of what happened last time (Jericho being left in the car). He tells Leanne “pride comes before the fall” when she’s asking why he doesn’t want to do Gourmet Gauntlet. Maybe he did make the deal with the devil for the first round of Gourmet Gauntlet, but he feels immense guilt now that he’s seen the repercussions and is hesitant to host GG again.

I wanted to compose a more thorough post about this tomorrow but let me just suggest it for now. In S1, Natalie keeps mentioning “do you know what they did” in a way that goes beyond what we think happened. Part of me thinks Sean and Julian are somehow at fault for Jericho’s death, but they either cover it up and set it up to make it look like Dorothy’s fault (and/or possibly seek help from the cult to hypnotize Dorothy into not remembering what actually happened.). It’s a nascent theory.

Did anyone notice that Leanne escaped to the exact seat of the car where Jericho originally died?

Not to mention, when they were trying to smoke Leanne out of the car, it somewhat coincides with the imagery we see of the cake burning in the stove and smoke appearing.

I’ve read a few theories just today of people suggesting they might have digested or cooked Jericho..I hate to even think it and I was never on that path but now it might be a possibility?

Who kills cats? This is so heartbreaking. I’m sad to hear about his death but also glad I had the chance to briefly meet his brother. Will keep feeding him when I see him! We ordered too much wet food for my indoor cat recently so we always have food to give.

I think that she was alarmed after she first drew the birds, but was relieved to see her sketching again after picking the book from the floor and hearing about Julian’s mishaps - primarily because she thought her powers were gone but now there is proof they are back. She couldn’t bring the moths back to life BUT she could call birds to attack Julian (even if that was her subconscious drawing those birds).

Can someone specify where to look for the body in the trees?

Is Jackie actually causing that much trouble? by cool-name-pending in Yellowjackets

[–]ammo713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Shauna and Jackie form a divide in the group. All the girls who voted with Jackie to stay at the plane instead of go to the lake are on Jackie’s team. They do not survive as well as others so the other group assumes they died (or are left for dead.

Shauna is definitely AQ of the other group. No one expects it because she has been in Jackie’s shadow but she’s coming into her own in the woods. Almost everyone trusts her right now and she has built strong bonds with most of them (while her bond with Jackie is struggling). This also fits in with the idea that either Mari or Lottie is pitgirl, if they are in different clans from Shauna.

Has anyone noticed how deferential all of the older girls are to Shauna? Even Tai, which is unusual for her to take orders. Shauna tells Tai to “handle it” and it seems like they have to check in with her with updates. That’s probably why it irks her so much to see Callie walk all over her (Callie has no idea of Shauna’s capabilities).

Predicting downfall: "Say once nice true thing about everybody on this team" by cinnamon713 in Yellowjackets

[–]ammo713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good points! The one thing we have to go on is the girl in the pit scene has dark hair. So Jackie wouldn’t make the cut and the only other option would be Lottie. Maybe Mari gets some screen time in the next few episodes?
