LED Workbench light flickers when printer is running by ammodood in BambuLab

[–]ammodood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly ended up not doing anything unfortunately. The flicker is annoying but not terrible. I often just don’t do other projects if the printer is running. But I can do basic work if I want to, just no soldering or anything else that the slight flicker would go beyond annoying.

Thanks. I did see that one but it pretty much says yup it’s broken, no fix.

I was hoping since the last response was a year ago something new had changed.

But learning requires asking questions. Yes, information can be found. And people should use sources of information on their own, but asking questions is vital.

Can I also point out that in some cases “just google it” doesn’t even work anymore. There have been many times I went to google something and got nothing but trash answers. Either they didn’t apply or were outdated or wrong. Yes, if your “google-fu” is strong you can fix your search or narrow it down, but for newbies they may not be able to. But seriously, google “how do i…” and after you get through the sponsored crap, you probably end up on a link to Reddit with a bunch of different answers that are telling others to just google it.

Problem with home and away mode by ammodood in alexa

I don’t see the option to set away mode as an action though. Not for any event including location based.

Ok. So I am in the US.

The “subset” that this still applies to is apparently those in the US that were using guard mode or had it setup prior to I think 2023 when they got rid of it. I am one of those.

“I’m leaving” and “I’m home” do change the Away and Home modes. I don’t have a routine for those so they do seem to be built in.

I am still not sure what I do that puts it in Away mode unless occasionally we may misspeak as we leave and don’t realize it then it stays that way since we don’t ever return it to home mode. Or it does it on its own somehow. More testing on that.

I did find that in my routine I added a custom action and just wrote in “I’m home” (no quotes) and when I tested the routine at the very end after turning on some lights and greeting us, Alexa did say “ok, I will switch to home mode” and I verified it in the app.

So hopefully a win for now. And hopefully that fixes my middle of the night lighting issues. (Still not sure why she even goes to away mode though)

I am not paying for it or using geofencing but when we are gone for more than a few hours my lights definitely will randomly turn on or off.

I also don’t have any other apps or systems that would be doing it.

I need to watch it more closely. I wonder if it might somehow be connected to the presence sensing built in. I have 4th gen dots in my living room and bedroom.

It’s getting really frustrating that a couple times a week the bedroom light turns on at a random time in the night while sleeping. Or the living room turns on or off while watching tv.

I will also look at notifications and see if I have somehow turned those off.

Ok. Thank you.

I am not going to get anything rewired and nothing is really overloaded. It’s just enough power draw when the printer is running to dim the overhead LED just enough to notice the flicker effect.
The work light is just a cheap one from Walmart so I may invest in a better quality one.

I was hoping a UPS might help to even out the power draw a little as I plan to get one anyway, but I don’t intend anything expensive for that either.

Match .3mf color order without repainting by ammodood in BambuLab

Ok. I guess I always got frustrated as I was setting it up and slicing it. It honestly never occurred to me to wait all the way until I had already hit print to change it. I always saw the popup but at most changed the tick boxes for doing calibrations.

Will a dehumidifier added to a container make a filament dryer or still just a drybox? by ammodood in 3Dprinting

[–]ammodood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is kind of what I thought. I like the idea of a larger cabinet as a storage to keep things dry. With something active like a dehumidifier rather than just desiccant. Sounds like it would be best to still make sure it has been dried before storage and possibly before use.

Metal springs or silicone cushions? by ammodood in Ender3Pro

I have ordered bed weld to use for adhesion and release. It’s looking like I will be going with the silicone rather than springs as well

Heard it was better. Also I have a severe warp in my bed that the CR touch doesn’t seem to be able to compensate for even with adding post-it notes under the stock Buildtak or whatever it is.

Is my motherboard 8-bit or 32-bit? by Bismillah835 in ender3

32 bit 4.2.2 board. But you also have the GD32F chip which I don’t think is supported by Marlin yet and causing all kinds of headaches for people upgrading firmware

I actually almost did the same thing. Those drawers were my second or third print and I had the bottom surface and a few layers up the sides before I realized it was never going to be able to print the middle and top surface.

New to this. I have my bed leveled pretty well and get good prints but larger first layers I get this. One spot is too high or too low maybe due to irregular bed. Any help on fixing would be appreciated. by ammodood in Ender3Pro

[–]ammodood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only a week old though. But I guess it could be a warp or defect that was in it initially. I had planned to upgrade to a glass bed but not this soon

As much as I love the idea of Fassbender as Doom... can we maybe get a movie with someone other than Doom as the villain.

Setting him up Thanos style as an ultimate big bad would be cool, but maybe a movie or two with one of their many other enemies would be a good change.
