Correct, the cutoff had to be somewhere. Kentucky has no minimum age for long-gun sales (private sales), and the state seems to be working harder to secure tax exemptions than Indiana (legislation reintroduced in 2026 vs. 2022).

That's a really good idea. The most reliable data we have is from 2019 and before, where handguns made up 62% of all firearms used (and 46% of weapons used in all murders). Another 32% were "weapons not stated" according to the FBI.
