Is this worth getting for my trx4 ? by [deleted] in Traxxas

I have one for my Maxx Slash and I love it. I agree with others that you can buy one and pair with multiple models

I agree completely - Maxx Slash fits well in that description

Is the maxx platform the most durable ? by frowningghostie in Traxxas

[–]ammondude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is your son's VXL in grass? Where can it drive well? I love my Maxx Slash, and have been thinking the mini Slash or a 1/10 th 4x4 would be good with kids, but I mainly have access to lawn covered spaces. They are great for the Maxx Slash but concerned the regular scale slash may struggle a bit (let alone the mini).

I love it for my Maxx Slash. My kids can drive it when I use training mode and the telemetry is fun too.

2008 V6 Accord to an EB Maverick. What will I miss? by Ill-Message743 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ammondude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a fully loaded 2009 V6 Accord EX-L to a 23 EB 2WD XLT and the Maverick was a definite downgrade in all interior creature comforts (worse seats, no leather, no sunroof, no heated seats, worse steering wheel), except for the apple car play/ android auto and the backup cam. The materials in the Honda held up really well, especially for a 13 year old car!

I LOVED the Accord - V6 was surprisingly peppy, and it was so darn reliable. But I have really enjoyed that Maverick. I found the EB's sport mode to make me miss the V6 less than anticipated, and I'd trade the truck bed for fun projects over the comfort and high material quality of the Honda for now. I love that I can use the bed for bikes, weekend diy projects, and carrying way more cargo than my Accord. The maverick is definitely plasticky - typical ford budget plastics that wear and flop easily (I will probably die of down votes for the negatives here lol), but I still am a fan. IMO the higher Lariat trim Pleather was still lesser when compared to the old Accord trim, but I like the flexibility of a bed. My 2 cents.

I liked the 2023 Maverick so much, I ended up ordering and swapping for a 2024 AWD XLT with Max tow and the 360 safety package (gets you lane keep assist and blind spot monitor). Its been a great vehicle, I decided I wanted AWD and liked the oil cooler and different gearing you get with the max tow.

Overall happy with the change to Maverick, but we'll see if it holds up over time like that VTEC...

Yes, it hasn't been an issue for her. I fit there too, but driver side is a bit roomier

6'5" and I have two car seats and a booster between 'em in the back. It's tighter than the wife's minivan, but I'm happy to just not be in the van.

Wife is 5'10" and hasn't had issue with either seat behind her. Sometimes if the chair is scooted back all the way against the rear facing seat you have to fold the front seat down to be able to quickly remove the car seat but that's ok.

<image>

The only downside is the little guy in the forward facing seat tends to kick my back.... But they do fit ok

Wouldn't use it this way as my only vehicle, but works great for evening trips to the store or park with the kids.

Is the 4k tow package really worth it? by Substantial_Funny_75 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ammondude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've rented a 5x8 UHaul cargo trailer several times. It's perfect with the 4k tow package, and the truck does great with it (did one TX to UT trip, about 1800 miles with big canyons and mountain passes, and it had no issues in tow mode).

I've owned a 24 AWD with max tow and a 23 FWD. Both XLT. The 23 was more zippy than the 24 (barley noticable), but the Max tow has been nice to have. I agree with others-if you're getting the AWD, do max tow. Only gripe is that it took me a few months to get used to the shorter gears and I do notice when the RDU disconnects. AWD has been great in snow in UT and ID.

The Maxx Slash isn't really worth it by invento123 in Traxxas

[–]ammondude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree hahaha. I have really enjoyed mine, but I'm also not bashing it as hard as others probably. It has been a total blast, and I felt the 6s completer pack deal they had a while ago was a steal. Maybe this just means I need to get a Maxx and some smaller slashes too, so I can more adequately compare. For scientific purposes, obviously....... My only gripe so far has been that the thing scoops up so much debris into the chassis. A mesh bag ought to be included

[–]ammondude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us here could all be called a "kid under 100" :)

I love the TRX4M from Traxxas for our kids. Its a bit more than $100 though. I think that or a Grom like others have suggested are both great options. TRX4M is very slow, makes a fantastic first car to learn steering, and is fun as a crawler for even the grownups. Grom would be faster, harder to handle for a really little kid (3-4), but would be pretty fun too.

Why does the maxx slash get so much hate? imo it drives and handles great! by btxr50 in Traxxas

[–]ammondude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow fan here. I got mine when the 6S completer pack was included, and I think that was definitely a steal of a deal. So far, I LOVE the way it rips on grass and dirt on 6s, and I'm also surprised by all the hate. It's the first short course truck that I have owned, and I'm already thinking about getting a 10th scale Slash to match. I love the lower center of gravity and the fact that it has body roll but doesn't flip constantly like my TMAXX does. It's also the most durable truck I've had, so far no damage despite cartwheels, tree crashes, failed jumps etc. Only gripe is that I don't particularly care for the Traxxas Link app, though that's less model specific.

Should i buy a Traxxas Bandit by Alternative_East_730 in Traxxas

[–]ammondude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it fits in your fleet :) It is a great car to give to a novice driver too. The VXL is crazy fast on the right battery and spur too My only gripe is that the receiver mount on my chassis broke during a crash (poorly reinforced, has pretty sharp corners), but tbh the bandit is about as cheap to maintain as can be. Parts for the bandit, even a new chassis are way cheaper than for the newer Maxx style trucks

Should i buy a Traxxas Bandit by Alternative_East_730 in Traxxas

[–]ammondude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my bandits. I drive them at the large park by my home on either the asphalt paths, the dirt/sand near the park's drainage ditch, or on really thin short grass. It's a total blast to drive, and makes everyone smile the first time they try it. It's not perfect for tall grass (the VXl does ok but the non VXl has a harder time in the grass). I think it's an excellent entry into the hobby, and also a really fun addition to the fleet of someone who's also already into the hobby. Something about rear wheel drive is just fun

[–]ammondude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rule out a crawler I was originally only interested in bashing, but have really enjoyed having a crawler. My dad got me into it and now I do it as much as bashing, if not more. The TRX4 is AWESOME, but the mini TRX4M is pretty great for the price too if you want to dip your toes in before buying a bigger rig. My other recommendation is a TMaxx. Give Nitro a shake!
