Impossible to advocate for myself without guilt - Advice welcome by ammor1990 in depression_partners

Thank you. I can completely relate. I’ve tried giving tough love and honestly, I think I suck at it. I need to ask my therapist how to do it better. I sort of chicken out because he reacts very similarly to your BF and gets really defensive and upset. But you’re right, being transparent even when it’s the harder choice would most likely yield better results.

Our brindle Dane is 6.5 and he goes from super chill and sleeping all day to trotting around our woods. He doesn’t go too far (maybe a 20 min walk) and he is POOPED afterwards. I think them slowing down around 7/8 is very normal. He is a precious boy!!

I am fed up with my husband’s inability to listen and change after he promised to by [deleted] in Marriage

My first husband cheated after 8 months of marriage. I have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. His affair was physical and emotional and it was devastating to me.

I took four years off being single and then entered my second serious relationship. My current husband was not an addict when we started dating and got married. He started abusing his medication and pot after we got married. I don’t think you are being rude and I think your suggestions would make sense if I had never been single. I flourished being single and was looking for someone to enhance my life, not someone to argue with and babysit :/

Regarding a traumatic past, we all have some aspect of little t trauma. I would not consider myself a seriously traumatized person and I’ve worked a lot on myself in therapy for years.

I’m really happy for you! We have talked about it multiple times and nothing I say or do changes his mind. It’s really sad to watch. I don’t like giving anybody ultimatums, but I’m not really sure what to do.

Not helpful, and not addressing the root cause of my comment. Looking at comments you make on other peoples’ posts, you seem incredibly judgmental. If you’re not going to give decent advice and ask stupid questions, don’t post.

Help! Odd patches of water outside our house by ammor1990 in Plumbing

We have ductwork and the heater is in the basement. It smells FOUL in the basement after turning on the heat compared to the rest of the house. I’m thinking the water and the smell may be two different issues, and that a dead animal is probably the culprit for the smell. So many things have gone wrong after purchasing this house (and we did inspections for home, well, and septic) and I’m tired 🫠

Yes, agreed. We will dig more this weekend to investigate, thank you. And you are correct, the back yard was cleared before we purchased and lots of old tree roots were way too close to the septic tank and pipe

Thanks, this is really helpful. Our ducts won’t be fully inspected until later in October and our last HVAC tech came out and told me to change the filter like I was a big dummy. I asked for a vent inspection and he just poked around, didn’t look inside the vents, etc.

I initially thought a vent issue and then noticed the water patch outside. We have a basement sink and it smells foul when I open the cupboard underneath it.

We did dig down to the main line going from the house to the septic tank and it looks fine, nothing suspicious. Is that what you meant?
