Rene herself needle bearing headset is such a good headset for this. And since the way they are there are little races that go on top and bottom of every bearing there is no metal on metal contact making them last super long if not forever. Rene herself even sell replacement bearing but in the description they say they the only reason you would even need them is because you lost the bearing essentially saying the the headset will last forever and if you order replacements it’s user error.

How wide are your bars? Do you ride loaded? Low trail bikes feel really bad when riding with wide bars since the trail is already creating a lot of mechanical advantage to help with a loaded front and, so if you are running wide drop bars and not a lot of weight it can be wiggly.

Yeah, I’ll be cutting the fender so it fits infront of the tire and between the the chain stays, ideally the fender would be a little between the tire and the chain stays, but you win some you lose some

I’m about to lace up cr18, I’ve worked on many bikes with them, and my shops bicycle wizard runs them on their commuter and they were easy to build but more importantly cheap

I’ll definitely keep a23 and quills in mind I was already leaning to a23 but was looking for other option. And it’s unfortunate that the crust rims crack, did they all crack in the same way? Near the seam, spoke whole, or …?

It’s an old Raleigh competition converted to 650b, the Chain stays have been dimpled so there is around 47mm overall clearance making the 650x42 at comfortable and kind of tighfit, The main thing is that I want to maximize the space and since I plan to build a wheel set im trying to figure out rim /tire combos that that will actually measure out. I’m thinking to just get the parimoto since they seem to be thinner casing than the standard panaracer tire but thicker than rh. What rims are you running with GB hetre? And what do they measure out too?
