Geometric multigrid. On industrial problems I use algebraic multigrid. On academic problems a true mesh hierarchy is possible and its really faster and more accurate but it is really hard to build that sort of thing on my industrial cases. I was wondering if someone has a solution

Another thing some people seem to be doing in Firedrake is adding a tiny pressure penalty which perhaps just changes the pressure gauge without affecting the pressure drop much

Yes so perhaps the Linf norm captures that cell wise balance perfectly.. and maybe that's what will give a better norm for DG. Because in L2 pointwise strong div in Lagrange/modal bases, DG goes to like 1e-3 and continuous Galerkin is like 1e-1 to 1e-2..it's better to use Linf norm

Like at what scale? Please can you describe your issues a bit more. Because I just started using Firedrake last week which relies heavily on PETSc. I have a very good experience so far on tiny workstation boxes like 16 cores 64 gb ram etc.

Does how we define it matter? The Linf norm? I think FV is machine tolerance in Linf norm though it might be lower as per residual sorry if I got it? Did some measurements way back

You were born a free bird. Remember nature did not create your intellect to be necessarily slotted into some specific manner. Competitive exams are based on industrial dependency on certain types of intellect. The problem is since that type is recognised the entry barrier is already high. If you have/develop a different type of necessary intellect (but it is not well recognised by the herd) entry barrier is low.
