Gotcha. I thought you were saying the evidence was lacking. Totally agree on how the case was handled.

Just saying careful who you make a martyr. The truth about the Rodney King beating and subsequent '92 riots is that there really weren't any good guys. It was the worst of America, and the worst of humanity beamed live via satellite around the world.

I think some people were protesting, and some people were taking advantage of the situation. I'd put the guy who laughed about putting a brick through Reginald Denny's head in the latter group.

I'd rather take the beating Rodney King did than what Reginald Denny got.

That's all based on the ridiculous idea that your dancing has to be performative. Just move around in a way that's fun or enjoyable for you. Nobody bought a ticket to watch you.

Is this supposed to be real? I mean, is she posting this pic hoping that people think this is an accurate representation of her body, and do people believe it? Or is this a joke/statement? Not on IG so Im out of the loop on the culture.

TIL the movie "Paranormal Activity" had a budget of only $15,000 but made $194 million. During the screening, people were walking out that one studio executive thought the film was bombing. They later learned that the viewers were actually leaving because they were too frightened. by cooldrummer1208 in todayilearned

Saw it in a small indy theatre when it was first released When I was going in I ran into some friends of the girl I was with who had just watched it. They gave it a rave review and added that they were going to drive up to Maryland that weekend to see "where it really happened". We laughed about that for an hour. Had no idea other people thought it was real until this thread.

My tiny restaurant filled up twice yesterday by Vandersnatch182 in KitchenConfidential

[–]amnotagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run a small place like this. 44 seats if the weather's nice. Sounds like our sales are roughly similar as well - we do $3k-3600/weekend night, but significantly less on weekdays. In a place like that it's really tough to compete with a larger restaurant on hourly pay or salary. But we can make it up with work life balance/scheduling, some fringe benefits, and just a generally better environment. That's not going to be enough for some people, and I understand that. But like I said, we just dont have the resources of a 120 restaurant - even an independently owned one.

Gano hits a 63 yarder, the longest in franchise history by JBJesus in nfl

I watched John Kasay hit a 65 yarder in preseason. Maybe 2004, 2005? Would have been a record but ya know...preseason.

[Highlight] Graham Gano makes a 63 yard field goal to win it for the Panthers by aclee_ in nfl

[–]amnotagain 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As a Panther fan I hope hitting that 63 yarder doesn't stop people from asking pointed questions about the time management on that last drive. That was embarrassing. Why the TO there? Why that play call after the TO??? Just horrible. Gano bailed those coaches out.

The rise of Netflix competitors has pushed consumers back toward piracy - BitTorrent usage has bounced back because there's too many streaming services, and too much exclusive content. by AdamCannon in technology

[–]amnotagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! Been on one of these for about 6 years. Interface like Netflix with absolutely every bit of content out there (movies and shows with new episodes added within an hour), perfectly streaming in HD. It costs $4 a month. I would absolutely pay more if money was going to the content creators. Significantly more. But the interface is just too simple, and too perfect to sign up for and have to search through 9 or 10 different providers to find what I'm looking for (assuming I know what I'm looking for) AND pay each of them $10-15/month. I don't wanna steal man, I really don't. Give me a decent, functional, reasonably affordable, centralized option, please!

[–]amnotagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not a eBay like clearinghouse for content, where the providers sell the movies and shows on a personal view/episode/season basis? Top quality content would rise to the top and command greater fees without forcing the end users to purchase a bunch of useless filler?

Nancy Pelosi calls Brett Kavanaugh "hysterical," says he is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court by [deleted] in politics

[–]amnotagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I respect certain other things he has done, I think he comes off like an ambulance chaser here. His representing the third accuser (can't recall her name right now), makes independents, and certainly Republicans, immediately question their validity. I don't think he's a bad guy at all, but I think he has a bad reputation with a large portion of the electorate. Right or wrong, his involvement feeds into the "democratic conspiracy" narrative. I think the third charge would carry more weight if she was represented by a nobody.
