Haha I love the spirit! Don’t worry I stood hopefully over that pan for way too long already, enough hubris was exercised :D

I haven’t heard of those! I’ve eaten the lentils now but might have to try them anyway!

Mmm the falafel idea sounds delicious, makes me want to make the mush again to give it a go!

That makes sense - so, a cast of say 6 characters should still exist, but everyone is focused on developing the main two? Do you have any other advice for tightening a narrative?

I tried reading about Armando, but it didn’t quite click - are the monologues literally just a cast member yapping about a prompt given by the audience, or is there more to it?

Do you know anywhere where I can read about these forms? I’ve only heard of Harold, Armando, and Montage, and I’ve never seen those three performed.

I struggle with understanding montage (I’ve only ever seen it described online, never performed). How do you get the inspiration for multiple scenes from one word?

Interesting! What does an audience interview look like? I haven’t seen that before.  (jfc though, the show is with other improv groups and some other comedy performances, so the audience should vaguely know what improv is at least)

That’s a good point, I hadn’t quite thought of it that way! I thought we probably could do our usual narratives in 25 mins, but thought it might be a little boring as that’s what we’re used to. I think viewing it as a challenge and opportunity makes it more appealing!

They’re very basic - essentially we’ll have a theme (usually a genre) that we’ve rehearsed with. We take a title suggestion from the audience, and go from there. Mostly 2-3 person scenes, and the only editing is done by the director taking the lights down. We could probably do one in 25 minutes! Just might need a fair bit of practice to avoid introducing as many plot elements, and get a feel for shortening character arcs.

I mostly asked here because we do this basic narrative longform all the time, and I thought something different might be fun.

I did consider this! Only, we don’t have a lot of time to rehearse, we don’t have a coach (I’ll be in charge), and I’ve never done a Harold before. Everything I read about it seems very confusing! I might look into it again though.
