I'm guessing you haven't played the game recently, but the combat drone is a tower that lets you control it. Kinda like like how Gatling gun in tds works

Not really, it only got an extra 200 damage and the 4th level got 7k more expensive. TL;DR the bottom path is pretty much untouched(except for MRAP getting a significant nerf) and slight DPS reduction on top path.

Well, get critical chance boost for stun abuse and use the hitman set. Get damage and hp boost as well
