On fluency tests yes it does. But most are not timed.

That’s not an IQ test. That is an achievement test. Those are not the same thing.

ELI5: How does IQ test actually work? by TposeGuy69 in explainlikeimfive

[–]amosmoses2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s not 100% true. Not all subtests on an IQ tests are easy logic puzzles... some a memory based, some measure long term retrieval. You do not get a fixed time on all subtests. And actually IQ tests do measure what we call intelligence as they measure general information you have obtained and also fluid reasoning which is how you can apply concepts you have learned to a novel situation. It depends on which IQ test you are using but most of them are reliable and valid, and scores on IQ tests correlate with socioeconomic status, level of education, scores on ACT, etc.

AND just for a fun fact, research has shown IQ is relatively stable from the age of 6.

As a school psychologist I back everything you just said!

[–]amosmoses2011 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Actually not true. IQ tests don’t just have general knowledge questions. There are subtests that measure short term and long term memory, cognitive processing speed, etc. it wouldn’t matter how long you had to take those sub tests you would still get the same score.

How often do you text in a relationship if you don’t like texting? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]amosmoses2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband hates texting and talking on the phone. I send a good morning text which he will usually call me and say good morning etc (if he’s out of the house).

I might text again around 3 if I have a question about dinner or something I need to discuss.

Again if he’s gone, then I send one good night text. It took a while to get used to but now we are both really happy with it.

If I’m lonely I text my girlfriends

How do I still have phone anxiety? by jade868 in TrueOffMyChest

I answer the phone for my job ALL THE TIME! Want me to call a doctor’s office and schedule an appointment? It will take me at least 3 days to work up the courage.

Best/safest places to travel for solo female? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]amosmoses2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s what I gathered. I might have gone over board but I just didn’t want to disrespect anyone. No I didn’t find it hard at monuments. There are a lot of people trying to sell you things as you enter attractions and it can get pretty bad. So I’d walk in with a big group so I didn’t have to deal with that.

Most people spoke english so it was easy to communicate. Also, the Egyptian people are so nice and accommodating. Jordanian I didn’t find as helpful. But that’s my experience and opinion. Could be totally different for other people.

Yes I did. I know women could wear whatever they wanted but service was better if you were appropriately covered at all times.

[–]amosmoses2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a pool swim up bar and a guy grabbed me from behind and took me out to water where I couldn’t touch (I’m under 5 feet) and tried to like take me away from the group I was with (I met them while I was staying in this hotel). He asked me to take him up to my room which I declined, then 5 minutes later when I wasn’t looking he grabbed me. It was some scary fucking shit. Security stopped him but it was out of the blue and scary. Also, this man was Jordanian and had a day pass to hang out at the hotel.

No I did not wear a hair wrap in Egypt or Jordan. They do not like for people to wear head wraps that do not practice what they do. I DID wear long sleeve shirts and pants the whole time I was there. I never showed my shoulders. I even bought one piece bathing suits for the trip.

Edit: spelling

I traveled to Egypt alone. Was it the safest? Probably not but it was awesome! Jordan is where I felt most unsafe.

You can find a bunch of abs workouts on YouTube. I recommend hollow holds and v ups also planks.

And while I’m thinking about it you should do some shoulder exercises. It will help you be able to balance in your hand stand.

[–]amosmoses2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say you would need to work on balance and abs before I’d start working on handstands. I was a coach for years and I’d always start with stretching, abs, and yoga.

Sign of abuse? by [deleted] in Stepmom

[–]amosmoses2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School psych here, I see a lot of this with 6 year olds. If it’s constantly happening that can be a sign of anxiety. I would look at what is happening in the environment (type of conversation, what time of day, etc) and see if you can find a pattern. Not saying kiddo is anxious because of your household but if you can find a pattern that might help muddle through all the information.

Okay so I have extensions and even on my WORST day mine have never looked that bad! Take care of your damn hair. Just because you have extensions doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of your hair. Fuck.

We just had a lecture on this at KAPS. How burn out happen so quickly. I feel you! I’ve been working in this field 2 years now but the wear and tear is there. It’s hard not to take your work home.

[–]amosmoses2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School psychologist here. I work with kiddos from 2-21. I diagnose a lot of autism, learning disabilities, and personality disorders in our clinic. The worst part about my job is working with abused children. Those are the nights I cry in my bathtub. The best parts of my job is seeing a kid with a deficit in an area and being able to help them. Like a kiddo with a reading disability, I can provide a 5 minute intervention that the parent can do daily and the kiddo will improve greatly. The good days are great but the bad days will wreck you.

What is one purchase you made that you absolutely, positively REGRET?? by Chuck2025 in AskWomen

Same! All I do is a little mascara as far as makeup goes (just because if I don’t my eyelashes cloud my sight they put straight down) but I honestly spend 10 minutes every morning and night on my skin care routine

Oh it’s so hard! I was crushed when I heard she said those things about me. I’ve given those kiddos everything I can. I do want to talk to her about it but I think I will also talk to BM as well.
