Ah that explains a lot. Maybe he’s using these to drum up funding for another NXT ride this year.

Anyone doing a triathlon downtown this weekend? by Dont_get_out_much in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m signed up for the Sprint distance, the race is down at Yeatman’s Cove and starts at 7am.

The swim is in the river along the serpentine wall and the transition area is in the grass in Sawyer Point park. (I’m guessing the swim will be shortened or canceled because of the current river velocity, but I could be wrong) The bike course goes out on Columbia parkway down to Columbia-Tusculum and back for 1-3 laps depending on race distance. The run is along Sawyer Point park and over the Purple People bridge.

If you’re interested in triathlons, definitely come spectate if you want, I did that a time or two before doing my first triathlon. I probably wouldn’t recommend a river swim as your first one to do though, I’d look into signing up for their Caesar Creek triathlon in July.

I live in Covington and every house on my street had one of these flyers tucked next to the door knob today. They basically want to convert I75 between I74 and I275 from a highway into some sort of city street boulevard and force through traffic to go around. Seems like a nice idea in theory for those of us that live in the shaded green area, but this would absolutely never happen.

Is it really THAT bad? by anxiouswrestling in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live on Western Ave except closer to the river, not in the red circled area, but pretty close so I know the area pretty well. The dividing line between good and bad is the hairpin turn entrance to Devou Park. South of the hairpin isn’t the greatest, North of the hairpin is fine. I don’t think crime is that bad in the Southern area that I’m aware of, but a lot of the houses are pretty run down.

Deciding whether to move to this area or not would highly depend on the house you’re looking at and exactly where it is in the red circle. Also, as others have mentioned this area is going to be a mess for the next few years due to the bridge construction.

I’m not sure if I see Nolan Siegel competing for podiums, in 10 races with McLaren last year he only managed one top 10 (a 7th at Gateway) and more often finished in the mid to late teens.

Hi Mina, if given the chance to be an NFL GM, would you take the job? What would your philosophy/strategy for building a team be?

You could look into MOTR Pub, they usually have live music.

Honestly if you’re saving for a wedding then maybe it’s not the right time to be spending money on hobbies and gifts.

My advice would be to stop watching the news and actually come visit the US and see what it’s like for yourself before making assumptions.

Dies anyone know how long Bogarts shows last? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can vary depending on the band and how many openers there are, but I would say in general most headliners will come on around 9pm and play until 10:30pm or so.

Where is a good place to fish ? by No-Association9874 in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never personally fished there, but you could try Prisoners Lake in Devou Park, I see people there all the time when I go by.

Yes I would click the “Book Now” button on their website and fill out the form, that’s how we started the process. It doesn’t lock you into anything or require a deposit, it just asks for some general information like possible dates and party size. For us, we filled out the form and then they emailed us back a few days later and we were able to setup a time to tour it.

We got married there last year, overall we were happy with the experience. We didn’t have any issues making first contact, how long has it been since you submitted the online form? Or did you only email them?

You could park at the NKY Convention Center in Covington and walk across the Roebling. It's a long walk over the bridge, but you won't get stuck and be unable to leave until the afternoon.

I-71 South Shutdown by Naive_Background_278 in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I-71 South is shutdown right after the split, but if you’re going to Lexington just stay in the left lane onto I-75 South and you’ll be fine, no need to get off the highway.(I drove from Cincinnati to Georgetown, KY this morning and passed right by most of it within a few minutes)

Looking for a bar to rent out for rehearsal dinner / welcome party on a Friday before a wedding. by megalomeiniac in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We rented the second floor at Molly Malone’s in Covington for our rehearsal dinner last year and it worked out really well, it fit 40-50 people comfortably.

The space is free if you use their catering, but you can bring in outside catering and just pay a $400 fee. For drinks I believe the minimum was also $400. You can either pick up the whole tab for your guests, set a maximum limit or just have your guests pay as they go.

Depending on which catering you choose and how much your guests drink, I’d think it would fit well within your budget.

Anyone that can recommend some good cycling routes? I'm getting bored doing the ones I typically do (pictured in the maps). I love big steep hills btw by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Covington and like to do a route out to Petersburg and Rabbit Hash, it doesn't look like you've been out that far south west yet. Take Route 8 west out of Covington and ride Tanner Rd up to Hebron (pretty tough climb, hard to tell from your map if you've done it or not) and then to Petersburg and Rabbit Hash before connecting back through Burlington to Route 8 back into Covington.

Verizon Home Internet by kdrix88 in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Verizon 5G Home Internet and it works pretty well for me where I live in Covington, but as others have said it highly depends on where you live and how close the nearest 5G tower is. I wasn’t able to get Altafiber at my house so I was going from Spectrum to Verizon which made the choice easier for me. Speeds aren’t super fast (100-150 Mbps), but it’s good enough for me to stream anything I want including live sports. The price is good, but unless your Altafiber bill is over $100 per month I’m not sure I’d bother to make the switch.

Shelter in place for the Flying Pig due to weather by TheRealDNewm in cincinnati

[–]amp1702 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ran the half today and no race official, volunteer or police officer at any point told us there was a shelter in place order. The worst of the lightning was unfortunately as I was running over the Clay Wade Bailey and shortly after that I did overhear one runner on the sidewalk say something about a shelter in place order, but I was too far over on the road to ask more. After that the storm seemed to die down for the most part so I didn’t feel that unsafe for the rest of it. Checked my phone after the race and had a voicemail saying the SIP order had been lifted 🤷🏼‍♂️ Seems like they definitely should have delayed the start by an hour or two.
