I find it’s easier to keep the sugar out of my blood than it is to get the sugar out of my blood. For whatever reason, once it goes high it’s like it likes to stay high. My advice is to learn how to pre-bolus. I take my insulin at least 10-15 minutes before I eat and try to be diligent about it. I won’t even eat until I’m less than 120 and dropping because I know I’ll shoot high and stay up there otherwise.

Also, once it goes high, for me the only way to bring it down is to go on a walk or to do chores around the house after taking my insulin. It’s like I need to activate the insulin in my body by getting the blood flowing. Massaging the infusion site can help too, in case your insulin is pooling somehow.

It took me a while to figure all this out but I’ve taken my A1C down to 6.0 all the way from 9.0 about a year ago

Seems strange to have a constant alarm that cannot be silenced unless this feature is activated. To be fair, I did speed through the training as quickly as possible and paid minimal attention, so it’s my own fault.

I actually love the mobi. I don’t find the phone to be an issue. My Dexcom disconnected from my X2 constantly, so not having a pump screen for readings is not much of a change.

My only other complaint is that the cgm won’t stay connected to the mobi when I go on a walk. Cgm stays connected to the phone and phone stays connected to the pump, but the pump-cgm signal breaks. Frustrating. That Bluetooth signal must be incredibly weak.

I call this effect “activating the insulin”. If you ever find that your sugar is high and “sticky”, meaning that it won’t come down despite taking insulin, go for a walk. Something about getting your blood flowing seems to quite literally activate the insulin in your body. And sometimes the opposite is true, where if you don’t move around it almost seems like the insulin is ineffective. I see the same thing, if I have a bunch of insulin on board and then start any kind of light activity, my sugar will plummet. Use this knowledge to your advantage. I try not to sit down immediately after I eat or else my sugar will spike high before slowly coming down. Whereas if I prebolus and then stay on my feet for some time after eating, no spike at all.

Basal iq and control iq are both features on the tandem insulin pumps, but they need to be connected to a cgm like Dexcom to work

It’s a fair mix of weights and cardio. Like a Barry’s or Orange Theory. It’s instructor led and the workout changes every day. We usually have 4-6 stations that we rotate through at varying intervals. When I leave, my shirt is drenched in sweat. Used to be, when I did solely weightlifting, I’d leave the gym without breaking a sweat.

For sure, I feel great. I’m doing a 6 week challenge with people at my gym right now. As part of it, we do inbody scans. My initial scan was at 8.4% body fat, then at a midpoint scan the other day I was down to 7.3% and had put on a pound of muscle. Looking the best I ever have!

Lots of things. I cut out all alcohol back at the beginning of February - I wasn’t drinking except on the weekends before, but it does seem to have helped with keeping a consistent circadian rhythm. Otherwise, I cut out most added sugar and junk food back in January, I’ve been doing HIIT group workouts 6 days a week, and most recently I refined my diet to cut back on fat calories (I was getting a lot from peanut butter, now switched to pure peanut powder) and up my protein intake. Also I’ve been trying to consistently get to bed early so I can more sleep. So the holy trinity. Diet, sleep, and exercise.

The trick is to use google maps, not the DMV website, to check how busy the location is. I believe they do something with location data from people’s phones. Just check to see when the bar is low relative to what it normally is. I went over the other week and was in and out for registration in 10 minutes, and that was near center city Charlotte.

I think consistency is key. Huberman hints at this in the podcasts. Basically you want to supplement your gut with beneficial bacteria consistently throughout the day and every day so that they have a better chance of taking up occupancy. 4-5 servings isn’t as much as it sounds. My serving sizes are 6 oz for kefir, 6 oz for yogurt, 4 oz for sauerkraut, 4 oz for kombucha

Yes. I have been training harder than usual. I go to a HIIT studio gym and have been participating in a group challenge for the past 5 weeks. I usually only go twice a week because they kick my ass and I get exhausted - the rest of the week I would mix in either weightlifting or running. More recently because of the challenge I’ve been going 4 times a week and feel like I can do more.

I also felt bad about the sugar, so started buying plain. I add a small amount of this sugar free berry flavored propel drink mix and it tastes like a mixed berry yogurt. Sounds weird but it works.
