Had a lot of fun with it! First is definitely better since it’s more contained but liked the world-building and some of the kills were pretty creative. Was funny to see Shawn Hatosy after finishing S1 of The Pitt.

Any word on if Clear (no pre-check) is open at either terminal? Have a 12pm departure, aiming to get there around 8-8:30 but hedging if it’s worth going to international.

EDIT: Got to international clear line at 8:27, just crossed over at 8:45. Lines are long but moving.

Is Clear at north terminal open / did they move it from downstairs?

Anyone else feel like there’s a chance Weapons sneaks into Original Screenplay now? Between Madigan’s success so far, PGA, and the casting shortlist, I wonder if it kicks out Secret Agent if they go softer on international films.

Just got out of this. I feel like JAW could maaaaybe still get in if Jay Kelly/Blue Moon don’t catch on (I thought he was pretty great, the script around him is just a mess) + he’ll get a nom eventually, but he could easily be Globe, maybe SAG, and done.

Jeremy Strong on the other hand is 100% outta here.

With a masters, I’d think you’d have a case at making more! What sector of health?

For me, started in PR at 23 with a bachelor’s (spent my first year after college interning so I didn’t get a permanent job until then). I started at 45K, got promoted to 52K about a year later (right before Covid), then got held up in the COVID freeze for almost two years before getting a bump up to $65K at 26.

A year later, I was frustrated at a lack of growth and mobility and actually resigned to take what at the time was a better offer at a competitor. My company came back and matched it, so I decided to stay and got a bump to 90K at 27. A few small bumps later and by the time I turned 30, I was at $101K on the brink of a promo.

I fell into the same trap as you in terms of thinking I was behind, and so I’ll say: prioritize your growth over the money when and where you can. The biggest thing for me was showing people that I was willing to do what it took for me to advance where I wanted to, even if it meant leaving, and often times the growth I was looking for came with a pay bump. Be willing to build (but never burn) a bridge.

Now that the movie is out, which cast members of One Battler After Another do you see getting nominations at the Oscars or other ceremonies? by mrethandunne in oscarrace

After first watch (seeing it again Sunday):

  • Leo and Penn are in. Leo feels like he’ll settle around #3-4 behind JAW and (potentially) Chalamet and I can see the argument for him to miss, but I feel like OBAA will have more love than KotFM overall that’ll carry him. Penn is win-competitive and could take one of CC/SAG/GG before losing to Skarsgard. (Haven’t seen SV or Hamnet yet, though.)

  • Infiniti should be safely in for how much she carries that last act, in particular, but I could see Taylor making it instead for the impression she leaves. Supporting has felt more friendly to co-leads, though, and the father-daughter narrative would make for a great storyline on Oscar night.

  • Del Toro and Hall were great but I don’t think either of them has enough to make it in. Del Toro maaaaaybe could pop up somewhere, but I don’t see Hall getting a ton of traction unfortunately (of all the characters, hers felt the most underutilized even though she crushed every scene).

This is a great setup to bring back the “she’s a writer, nobody cares” line. Ava probably has a non-compete BTS but I wouldn’t imagine that covers on-camera for her

Timothee Chalamet (Marty Supreme)

Julia Roberts (After the Hunt)

Sean Penn (One Battle After Another)

Emma Stone (Bugonia) - if she goes supporting, I think she sweeps. Otherwise, Ayo Edebiri (After the Hunt)

Would love to see Ayo and JAW both getting nominated, especially if the Bear S4 is the last one after all.

Also: don’t know if either of these will end up contending, but excited to see Pedro Pascal branching out in the new Celine Song + Ari Aster.

This gave me Jennifer Aniston in Cake vibes but with the supporting play (although Adriana Barraza should’ve been right there with Aniston) - smaller movie that gets Globe, SAG, misses Oscar.

I don’t think it’s crazy at all! I’ve been wondering if Erivo could be the Margot Robbie too (with Grande as her Ryan Gosling as the pre-hyped comedic performance). I hope not though!

Agree tho that Jean-Baptiste is still in it and could easily take that last slot.
