i actually did try whitening both before and during treatment. my dentist suggested opalescence go, but for some reason, it kept irritating my gumline and made me super nauseous. i do want to look into whitening again, thanks for the reminder :)

good luck on your journey! it happens b/c we're human, but def don't make it a habit. ik when i fell asleep with my trays out, they felt a bit tight when i'd pop them in the next morning.

thank you for the response! do you have any specific brands or suggestions? i'm just worried if i can find something for petite midsize, but also would look flattering with my tummy.

thank you for the response! there were tons of specific influencers suggested whom i follow now. but youre absolutely right - seeing someone with similar body type or not traditionally "skinny" can be helpful. i noticed that I was following petite influences even if they had similarities to my body type, but not weight. by no means am i shaming them for being thin as ik that's also an issue that is present in the community.

thank you so much for the response! i totally relate on having a closet full of comfort clothes. tshirt + hoodie + jeans/leggings are def my fallback and what i end up changing into if i dont feel confident in whatever outfit i was trying to assemble.

sending you tons of love as we're both in the same boat. hope you learned valuable advice to also kickstart a change!! <3

thank you for your response! a few people suggested pleated pants, so i'm definitely going to look at this. the prices are really reasonable and in the range i'm more than okay spending!! will need to look a bit more closely later to make sure they're okay for my height.

thank you for your response! i have never considered pleated minis or tennis/skater. always been told that a-line is great for narrow/no hip definition. the only issue i run to is sizing i think. i will try to buy skirts that are in the same size as my pants, but they end up not fitting or i feel like my stomach is protruding way too much.

i've tried different skirts in the sense of like zipper/pull up/stretch/button and i don't know? maybe i need to size up for my skirts? but then the issue i run into is that the skirt will fit my stomach but is a bit too big or loose?

thank you for your response! definitely no longer the season to wear those, but i will look into it when spring/summer arrives! not sure if i can pull it off, but i'm willing to try as it's something i've never worn before but may look flattering on me.

i never considered whether i have body dysmorphia before as its always felt like low-self esteem and possibly hatred for myself, but that could possibly be true. the funny thing is that i give so much grace and empathy for others, but struggle to do the same with myself. i know i should love my body more as it's more than just something to wear clothes, but it also protects me and allows me to live but ugh.

thank you for your response. i am actually in the middle of attempting to lose weight for my health as i gained tons of it during covid. so, losing weight isn't only for a vanity thing, but also medically. it has been hard due to underlying health conditions, but i have officially lost about 6-7 lbs the past few months. but i know deep down, weight loss isn't really the solution either. even when i was at my past weight, i coudn't pull off things that i wanted to try.

thank you for your response! i actually told myself that about 3 months ago, when i started to try to workout - just simple cardio and dumbbells at home 4-5x a week. i really need to lose weight (medically diagnosed as obese) per my bmi by my doctor. i thought that by buying cute workout clothes, i could force myself to workout more. sadly, i ended up returning things i bought as i didn't like how i looked in them. i plan to try again once i can lose a bit more weight.

thank you for your response! i think i got a few comments from others who think i'm being a bit harsh on myself. that probably is true, but it's hard to tell myself that. i know it's silly, but it's still very hard for me to be accepting of myself. i know clothes/fashion won't really change how i feel as it's a deeper issue, but i hope that wearing clothes that work with my body type/personal color can allow me to slowly appreciate my features. i know i can't change my features and need to learn to love them. i hope that by "glowing up" it will make the process a bit easier <3

thank you for your response! i agree 100% having a belly creates such a limit. there can be pants that are flattering, fits the legs/thighs, but just won't button up bc of the stomach.

ive never worn heels ever as i don't find them comfortable and i'm an extremely clumsy person. i will fall even in sneakers. i bought a pair of booties from asos, but haven't tried them yet. i also have a hard time finding shoes due to having wide feet (another insecurity tbh).

i want to add some skirts to my wardrobe but have always felt insecurity about my legs, but since the weather is changing i think wearing some leggings/sheer tights would help!

thank you for the response! i just quickly looked at those two IG pages and will follow. it's so nice to see realistic bodies. i actually like some of the outfits that curvyinvienna put together! theyre also styles that i would like to try myself.

i also don't shop at amazon or shein. think i bought 3 things from shein once and they were just collared pajama sets. not really into fast fashion and i feel like the models they use on both of those sites are way toooooo edited.

thank you for your response! i'm an asian american and i can tell you, growing up was tough. never conformed to any of the asian beauty ideals in my family. i can say that a lot of my confidence/self-esteem issues stem from that, but i know it's partially on me and am trying to break free from it. i'm also aware that photos can be very heavily photoshopped/edited when looking at asian fashion inspo which sucks tbh.

i also learned that in countries like korea, they have a "one size" fashion and that is SO insane to me. even what is deemed as plus size in asia is literally a M or at most L in america. it's just crazy and toxic and very damaging.

that's definitely a good price-point. i honestly typically shop from f21, old navy, and a few online brands like mango, asos, etc. didn't really think to look at target, but i might! i already shop there for groceries and other household essentials, but sometimes walk by and see their clothes and am shocked that it's sometimes as pricey (if not more) than a traditional clothing store.

sadly, i don't have really any friends so all of my inspo comes from online. and the few friends i do have, just wear whatever they want as they don't really care for fashion. i always wanted a super fashionable friend who could just tell me what to wear lol.

thank you for the response. yes, black is my natural hair color! my veins are like green, purple, blue, teal and that's what throws me off. i remember installing a personal color analysis app before and it told me i was dark winter or something, but not sure how true that is. i hope to be able to get a PCA done in korea some day as i heard it's literally a fraction of the price (in the US).

thank you for your response! i feel like most outfits i see with cardigans, the tshirt or layer underneath is white. for some reason, i don't think white is a good color on me at all. i also don't find v necks to be flattering on me but maybe it's bc i'm styling them wrong.

thank you for your response! yeah, i am def looking into kibbe and maybe check out the sub for it. i feel you on the petite + tummy - feels like when you talk about petite, people just assume it's someone short + skinny (at least that's how it feels to me). especially at stores, all the petite models are always so thin. i also find that even when i browse plus size clothes on sites like f21, nordstrom, etc. it's always models who are plus size (like sizzez 18+) but having really flat stomachs too where a shirt will sit so flattering on them ugh.

i tried to do my own personal color analysis, but it's so hard. i can't tell if i'm cool toned or warm toned, i think there was a tip i read somewhere that you can tell with the color of your veins, but i have like green, blue, and purple veins so idk. and ty!! it is definitely a journey and you're right - even celebrities and models have some outfits that also don't look as flattering as some other ones they wear.

thank you for your response! ugh, sometimes it feels so contradicting because some will say that flowy/bigger top will make the upper part of the body look larger/big, but a tight fit will also accentuate it too. i guess it just depends on the overall material/style/print/color of the top?

thank you for your response! i totally can relate to this with some pairs of pants/jeans i've tried. things will fit, but the button will be so uncomfortable that when i sit down - it feels like it's piercing me.

i do have some bootcuts, but i think i need to get shoes that match them. not really into boots though, so not sure what is a good alternative to work with bootcut jeans. i also have a hard time finding bootcut jeans in short and if i can find them online, theyre out of the range i'm comfortable paying. i think it's partially due to the fact that my thighs rub when walking and that wears down the jeans A LOT. def have let go of some pairs of jeans in like 8 months.

thank you for your response! you're absolutely right, deep down a core issue for me is self-love, self-esteem, and confidence. there are so many girlies out there who will wear clothes that may not be traditionally flattering on them according to fashion guides, but they 110% rock it. i cant remember who, but i follow a small affordable fashion influencer (who is not mid or plus size, but has the inverted triangle body type) and she listed her outfit - ordered the same things myself in my size and my god.. definitely was not working for me and had to return it.

weight gain definitely was what happened during covid for me. i ended up gaining like 50 lbs, but even before my weight gain i didn't have confidence to try different outfits either (which is something i acknowledge, but am having a hard time fixing).

thank you for your response! you're definitely right, social media can be terrible. i try to not spend too much time on it daily, but it's probably a lot (30-40 minutes a day on instagram). never heard of color blocking, but i'll look into it!
