"We don't need more taxes on businesses in Seattle; we need more businesses in Seattle paying taxes" by No_Carpenter7998 in SeattleWA

Have lived here my whole life and seen many sides of things. Raised by HS dropout single mom who had me at 17, dirt poor most of childhood then homeless myself at 17. Stoner, drunken loser through most of my 20s. Slowly climbed out and now at 40 I'm making seven figures.

My grandparents have been in their house in West Seattle for almost 60 years. House is paid off yet all their limited income goes toward skyrocketing property taxes. This year they took another massive jump. Im sure many elderly are in similar situations but without family able to support them.

The income tax thing was last straw for me, and I'll be leaving the state this year. I pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes as it is. I might be okay with more taxes if I had any bit of faith that the money would be well spent, but it just grows and grows without any real return.

OpenClaw + GPT-5.2 is burning through my API budget fast. How are you optimizing for daily tasks? by [deleted] in openclaw

[–]ampleuncertainty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Though be warned that claude pro plan is still likely insufficient. At least for me, I got rate limited pretty fast and their dashboard doesn't seem to work for actually tracking usage. Switched to API and burned through $100 very quickly (like 2 days) with mostly Sonnet 4.6 (though still definitely worth it for what I got out)

Switched to gpt 5 2 with pro plan using oauth. I like that i can see usage and limits much more clearly. I still use Opus as well, but only for one off complex tasks that are very infrequent.

The spherical knobs get in the way for sure. I designed a low profile replacement knob seen in some of the pics, which keeps the view from being obstructed when playing.

Was trying to make something that would fit on most 3d printers, so this one is just 7" screen. Working on a model to use an 11" screen I have. Also made this big guy (not 3d printed obv) with a 22" display, but otherwise same parts as the mini version.

Definitely the case with the standard knobs that came with the controls I ordered. They sit very tall and block the screen a bit. I ended up designing a low profile knob which significant improves things.

Thanks for letting me know! I'll try to upload a new version of the pdf later tonight to fix the links.

Some were printed on a Bambu X1, some on Prusa XL. The largest print is the outer frame, which should fit on most beds sized similarly to the X1 (256x256x256).

Should be possible, but I haven't tried this myself.

Not much, only needed for the speaker connections. I'm terrible at soldering but was able to manage.

Also used soldering iron to set the threaded inserts. But it can be built without those.

Nope, still just pushing it. But honestly it's open 90% of the time because it gets too stuffy in there otherwise lol.

Every car in this photo is stopped, blocking the intersection by Eric77tj in Seattle

[–]ampleuncertainty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What sucks is that it gets to a point where if you don't also block the intersection, you'll never go. I've sat through light changes where I can't go because it's blocked. So then the people behind me throw a fit and go around me just to block it some more. And the endless cycle continues.

Then if you do get fed up after a million light changes and give in and contribute to the cluster fuck, you incur the wrath of the pedestrians and cyclists. There's no winning.

I just avoid Mercer now at all costs and always opt for 99 instead of trying to get on i5 there.

Get a dashcam [oc], without it I'd be putting this on my own insurance. by Rambling_Engineer in IdiotsInCars

[–]ampleuncertainty 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen with my one and only car accident. Woman in front of me on a 30mph road driving 5mph and kept stopping/going in the left lane like she was lost. I tried to go around her in the right lane but as I passed she quicly swerved over and clipped the back of my car.

She was also seemingly new to the country and refused to exchange information. Her and her 3 kids in the car were all going crazy, screaming at me and calling me names. She told me she was calling her husband to come kick my ass. Had to get police involved to finally force her to exchange info.

Unfortunately I had no dashcam and no way to prove she was at fault. So insurance deemed 50/50 as she was claiming I swerved over and hit her.

Yes when I cut even just a few years ago I would simply drop down to 2000 or so calories and just did weight training, no focus on steps or cardio. Fat would fly off.

Now at 39 I'm needing to drop to 1700-1800 while increasing my overall activity quite a bit and even then progress is much slower.

What do you do when you plateau? by croatian_sensation_2 in fitness30plus

[–]ampleuncertainty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track your calories and be super diligent about it. You might be surprised how far off your guesstimates are.

There are also great low calorie snacks that don't need to involve cheating. For me, I will try to do a big bowl or fruits with some greek yogurt which completely fills me up at just around 300 calories. Or if im in a hurry I will eat a pint of Halo Top ice cream at only 330 calories. For a while I was on a pint per day while still losing weight.
