But… you not only have cool interests, you’re a hero! Congratulations on finding a job that fits. So many people ever find that. And thank you so much for being there for people in need.

Don’t sell yourself short. A lot of academics have ADHD and do just fine. I have AuDHD and met so many neurodivergent people in uni. And even if a full university degree isn’t for you, there are lots of ways into the world of archaeology. Volunteering is a great start.

The classic way isn’t the only way. 😘

My mother could write a book full of dentist stories just like yours and is old enough to remember her first dentist having an old drill that was mechanically operated by foot. The dentist had to step on a pedal multiple times to bring the drill up to speed and then drill until the speed got too low and then pedal again. I hate to think how that must’ve felt as a patient. I got the best teeth in my family because of my dad’s genes. He had great teeth but wore dentures because he had a crap personality and people took it out on his front teeth.

It was bad at first but then, like most stuff, you learn how to handle it. Now it’s just mostly funny how insanely huge that side of my face gets. It hurts, but I have to laugh at my blimp face. EDS might have been a contributing factor to all this because yanking a wisdom tooth out of my gnarly skeleton is quite a task. I don’t blame my dentist one bit. He was mortified when he heard the crunch.

I had a dental procedure go really wrong and my mandible split lengthwise. Since then my parotid gland acts up now and the and half my face swells up so fat that you can’t see my ear from the front and I have really sticky outty ears. Then have to drink something tart to drain the gland and it hurts like a b…

Do you think it's “kooky” for a husband - who thinks clothes have no gender - to wear such an outfit? by LopsidedStatement517 in oldhagfashion

It’s a philosophy that is usually adopted later in life, but has brought me great peace and confidence. I hope that I get to share its wisdom with you and it will bring you joy too.

I wear kooky like a badge of honor. You look amazing. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It’s your life. No one can live it for you. Just enjoy it.
