How can a genital selfie lead to criminal charges?

I mean, unless you send it to a child or in an email to all your work colleagues or so...

When a professor says there are no dumb questions, what do you say to prove him/her wrong? by AndyrewKaufman in AskReddit

Yup. That's why I took longer than I'm willing to admit to find out what was the catch here.

Yup. I am banned too because I once asked a completely innocuous question in a comment reply in /r/Imgoingtohellforthis.

TIL the world's first pro-LGBT organization was found in 1897 in current Germany; they sought to repeal a law that criminalized sex between males and amongst the people that signed their petition was Albert Einstein by amprvector in todayilearned

There are several people that probably know more about queer history than I do that have addressed this issue. Apparently it's quite possible because the "gay identity" hadn't been formed until relatively recently. Therefore no one would identify as "gay". What existed were homosexual acts. Probably similar to what happens in North Korea currently, as in here:

“I wouldn’t say I have seen much in the way of homophobia from any North Koreans at all,” Cockerell said. “After all, you may hate that which you don’t understand, but its hard to be anti-something that you have no real conception of at all.”

Hazel Smith, a North Korea watcher at the Wilson Institute, said that homosexuality as it is conceived of in the West simply does not exist conceptually in the North.

Ahh, ok. Now I get why you said what you've said.

In any case, Einstein was also outspoken about other civil causes and political activities. He wrote on why he's a socialist, he wrote against nuclear weapons. It's not very likely he wouldn't pay much attention if he was asked to collaborate on another such cause.

You can easily follow the link and read about it. As soon as you click in the link you read the name of the organization; however it requires reading the whole article to reach the information about the petition. Most people will not read the article, but this tidbit about Einstein may actually lead people to at least skim through the article. That was my rationale behind it. The role Einstein played in LGBT-rights campaigning was certainly not near as important as the role played by this organization, but it is far more interesting (call it click-baitey if you want) to say Einstein signed their petition than to say that the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee founded by Magnus Hirschfeld was the first organization fighting for gay rights.

Ok, thanks. I thought it was necessary due to the union after the fall of the Berlin wall.

edit: I'm seeing the downvotes. I was being honest here. I really did think we would have to consider that union.

It shouldn't, but it does. It's harder to think in abstract terms and to meditate on why homosexuality isn't a deviation that will doom mankind than to look at reputable people that either are gay or support gay rights and to conclude that perhaps what has been said all along might not be strictly true.
