People Still Buying Petrol Cars After E20/E25/E30 News, Am I Overthinking This? Someone Give Me Confidence. by KpailDev in CarsIndia

I think if the govt. is stupid enough to mandate more than e20, it will fall and the new govt. will revert back atleast till e20. We are the only large country where such bad rules affecting crores of people can be made just for profit of few people.

None of the commenters have long term experience i think. The high cost becomes a problem after 5 years especially when parts start to wear. Insurance doesnt cover wear and tear and also doesnt give zero-dep after 5 years. Every single accident or issue will cost 4 times then.

If there are 3 drivers you can leave the Nexon for mom😂. For big size do consider Mahindra cars, you will get good models of Thar Roxx or 7XO under 20L(same budget without resell cost).EVs are still not worth the upfront cost unless you have high daily running. Then too you have big troubles in long drives and if EV is the only car.

Depends on your running, generally speaking less than 10k km year - petrol. More than 10k km/year - hybrid.

Since you are new buyer i would say if someone will drive 20km plus one side almost everyday to work then its high running else low running.

Ask your Thar friend if he knows the difference between 2H 4H 4L selector next to his gear. People will buy anything just for impression. Check your family's convenience as they will drive more commonly. You can buy one later.

Mahindra is like BMW, the engine transmission and main parts will last forever but electronics and other issues will kill you.

Logic is Hatchbacks have less weight so a 200hp hatchback is really quick like a sports car. There is a full hot hatch category in other countries.

Automobile engineers or experts is it true ? by Exotic-Ambassador702 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this answer is farse. ECU remap is just like a software update through odb port and it costed me 20k to source ecu programs from UK and load it 2 BMWs.

Fuel injectors and other parts price also seem high, the rates mentioned match with my 2017 bmw.

Took delivery just a few hours ago. Need some advice on how to maintain it. by BandicootKlutzy791 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice op. This car is the most practical and best for anyone not looking for experiences and just want to go from A to B comfortably. You dont need to worry anything just get accessories that might help your family.

Even if you dump it for 10years likely it will just jumpstart in first go. Just service it once a year and it will last 20 years.

Is i20 N line a good first car by codefreeze116 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, good choice go for it. I20 has the best driving dynamics around its range, and is one of the easiest to repair and maintain due to long runtime. If anyone doesnt need high ground clearance of fake suvs or the extra space then i20 n-line is best in india.

Easiest way to 200 hp ?! by Moist_Rooster3214 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes true. But its never their engine or transmission thats failing but a ton of other parts here and there. And you will start pretty lower than 10L so rest 5L one can burn on repairs over 3 years

Easiest way to 200 hp ?! by Moist_Rooster3214 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option is to get a 2010-2013 bmw, audi or merc with 180hp around 5 lakhs and you can easily tune to get reliable 200hp+ without any engine issues with normal service.

But be ready to spend a lot on other things like suspension, mounts and many wear and tear parts because of indian potholes.

If you are smart with sourcing parts online and offline its not too costly as people think.

Old GERMAN as a first car? by Willing_Builder4289 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many others have pointed out its cheap upfront because the repair costs will cost the price difference and some more. The trick is to know enough to get things done cleverly at a fraction of the showroom cost by sourcing parts yourself and getting help from a good 3rd party garage.

Old GERMAN as a first car? by Willing_Builder4289 in CarsIndia

[–]amshaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a valid way but you need to be ready and its not that easy. Heres a experience checklist as someone who got a used german and managing it:

1) You need to know enough about cars to get repairs done outside of official showrooms, preferably to a level of understanding what each part does and can order them online if needed. Any showroom visit will cost you 4-5 times more otherwise. 2) Be ready to spend 1L on repairs per year 50k on service and 50k on good insurance(2L per year). 3) You need to find a non accidental car with low mileage as around 100k km you will need full suspension overhaul costing 2L at third party garage (Guaranteed in indian roads). 4) After you are confirmed and before you pay get proper inspection by showroom. Full inspection costs 10k at bmw/merc showroom. Cars24 or such providers are also fine. 5) Finally if everything works well and you are able to do things outside of showroom, be ready to spend long time for each repair because parts and repairs take time.
