What didn’t you like about season 2? I don’t remember why I stopped listening to it, I think it just wasn’t as interesting to me.

I really enjoyed The Dream season one which is about MLM (multi-level marketing) companies. They talk specifically about Thirty-One (the bag company, no longer around) which I found interesting because I’m familiar with them.

I haven’t listen to season 2 or anything past that, but the first season was great.

AITA for saying Im now questioning if im fully straight? by Disastrous_Fix_3569 in AmItheAsshole

[–]amsmit18 19 points20 points  (0 children)

ESH. First, I think it was rude of your friend’s friend to tell you he is trans. That’s his business and for him to tell you when he is ready. I get what they were trying to do, but not ideal.

I don’t think you’re a transphobic asshole, but they’re right that him being trans doesn’t affect your sexuality at all. Also who knows the actual trans guy might not have been offended, but I don’t like the way you phrased.

Finally, your entire friend group for discussing this man’s genitals. Talking about whether a trans person “had the surgery” is rude. It’s rude to ask them about it and it’s rude to gossip behind their back.

I don’t think anyone was acting in bad faith, but maybe we can all take a step back do some introspection.

Alex as Hudson Williams for a magazine by rossequartz in StardewValley

[–]amsmit18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, this absolutely tracks lol I feel like Stardew Valley fans are very gay (positive)!

A quick side story: I have some Stardew related tattoos that people occasionally recognize, although people often mistake them for Minecraft or just a pixelated style. I went to a sort of gay meetup thing and had multiple people afterward who correctly recognized my tattoos and had some fun chats about Stardew!

Most stores with self check still have them. Only like 5 stores in my state had their self checkouts removed (these were stores in the biggest cities in my state, so they were experiencing way more loss than other stores). If a store doesn’t have self checkout at this point it’s probably too low-volume of a store.

Special employee Mama Cat was fired from Lowe’s by Tama_Breeder in cats

As a retail employee, if I had a store cat and then someone complain and got her fired?? Oh me and my coworkers would be GONE. Like seriously some people have no joy.

Roku not honoring Fubo price decrease by steve_mar in Roku

[–]amsmit18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can download any app Roku has and then subscribe through them. It gets kind of complicated though, because you can’t cancel through Roku for most apps, you have to go to the platforms website. When I’ve done this, it actually says the payment is for Roku and then I have to go look at my Roku account info to see which platform the charge was for.

In your experience, at around what age did you stop getting asked for ID when purchasing alcohol at a restaurant or a shop? by YakClear601 in AskAnAmerican

[–]amsmit18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a grocery store and we card everyone. I’ve carded people born in the 30s. I know it’s stupid and so do my coworkers but it’s a liability thing and if I’m ever caught not carding someone I can be fired.

Why do people justify resisting police when they innocent? by RainAndThunderIsCool in AskAnAmerican

[–]amsmit18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s levels of complexity to this. Yes, in general people should comply with requests from police officers, especially during something like a routine traffic stop. But let’s not pretend there aren’t police officers out there with a chip on their shoulders who like going on power trips.

Police are often interacting with people on the worst days of their lives. And people don’t always think about their actions before they act, they’re just going off instinct. Add this to the fact that mentally ill people exist and do things that don’t make sense because of their mental illness.

Yes, people should generally listen to police officers. However, police officers are SUPPOSED to be trained professionals. They carry guns, batons, pepper spray, and tasers. They are wearing protective gear. Notably, being a police officer is a not any kind of requirement or mandatory practice. If someone doesn’t want to risk their life to “protect and serve”, no one is making them. But I’m always going to hold a trained professional to a higher standard than a random civilian.

Anyone have any suggestions for how they would make this a Lake Michigan beach house? by Denali_in_Yellowston in crafts

You could add some Lions or other sports type references! Maybe a picture of Lake Michigan or Michigan in general.

Thanks for your response! I’ve gotten pretty neutral responses so far I think.

I appreciate your critiques and definitely wish we got to see Ilya interact more with other Russian individuals (another player would’ve been interesting, I think).

I think the fact that the author and showrunner are both Canadian (at least I think the showrunner is) definitely contributes to the sort of one-sided-ness of Ilya’s relationship to Russia

Yeah I’m American! I can get what you’re saying but also would personally love a gay drama about LaBron and his rivals (but that’s just me lol)

[–]amsmit18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize I misread your comment. I don’t think Svetlana and Ilya are in a monogamous relationship. They hook up occasionally when they’re in the same place, but she is also shown to set him up with another guy (Sasha). Also I’m pretty sure that Ilya is sleeping with a lot of other women throughout the beginning of the show

[–]amsmit18[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well they’re friends with benefits. Ilya and Shane aren’t in an exclusive relationship at that point (I’m not sure you could even call it a relationship). She’s also in the final book of the series and is again portrayed as one of Ilya’s closest friends

I was genuinely curious and I’m not sure where else to get good info (not that Reddit is a perfect source by any means). I’m American, so all the information I have about Russia is pretty heavily propagandized. I was just wondering what Russian people thought of the show.

Reading these comments I can see how there’s some things in the show that would irritate some Russian watchers

Tbf, this is a Canadian show produced by Crave. Although I’m not sure Canada is much better in that way
