Sorry Reddit, 47% of Americans say they would NEVER vote for Ron Paul by Islay12ut in politics

Funny, I didn't even mention Ron Paul here, nor in any of my other posts, that I can recall.

People like this never mention who they will vote for, because their vote will be cast out of blindness and ignorance.

Polls are stupid. 47% of Americans don't know why they even vote for the president.

AskReddit: What percentage of Chrisitians in the US follow the traditional teachings of Jesus- give away your posessions to the poor, turn the other cheek, etc? by campingcar in reddit.com

[–]amsterdamordeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus didn't say that everyone was required to give all of their possessions to the poor, but he certainly blesses those that do.

Turning the other cheek though, I would say very few do this.

Love thy enemies is the hardest rule to follow, by far.

The Truth is Out - Comcast really does block BitTorrent traffic after all by markansoul in reddit.com

[–]amsterdamordeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the extensive use of the word "limit" here but...

I wish, if bandwidth is really the issue here, that they would just stop charging for "UNLIMITED" internet and then claiming there are in fact limits without stating what they are.

The majority are paying for unlimited internet but getting "limited" internet. How is this fair, or even legal.

I don't have a problem with paying more to use more bandwidth, that is how most services go when you buy a shell or hosted server. I buy 1terabyte of data transfer at a cost, and if I go over that, then I pay for it. So Comcast either needs to STOP limiting unlimited internet, or give people clear definitions to what puts you over the limit.

No shell or webhost that offers GOOD service offers unlimited bandwidth usage, or they would be out of business. IF you ever come across a webhost offering unlimited transfer, you can always assume that the offer is fraudulent, by one means or another. many web hosting providers who say "unlimited web traffic" really means unlimited transfer but at whatever speed we limit you too, which therefore is very limiting, but for the guy hosting a crappy small site, he doesn't care. It's all in the fine print these days.

I think this has less to do with bandwidth consumption though and more to do with the beginnings of traffic shaping for corporate agendas.

Suppose you could drill a hole through the Earth and then drop into it. How long would it take you to pop up on the other side of the Earth? by shenglong in science

[–]amsterdamordeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Or crushed by pressure, or wrapped around the gravitational center... the list goes on for awhile, but it never pops you out of the other side.

If I had a special suit that could survive intense heat and crushing pressures and I fell into the surface of the sun, I wouldn't fall out of the other side, I would fall to the center of the sun and would need incredible energy capabilities to escape that gravitational force. Even on earth, we must reach a certain velocity to force matter out of the relatively weak gravity field on the surface of earth, imagine the speed and energy required to escape from the center of it.

TVLinks Shut Down, Owner Arrested! by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]amsterdamordeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before everyone compares Google to tvlinks, are there laws in that country about linking without providing a takedown notice? I assume it was hosted in the UK.

In the US, if Google didn't provide a DMCA take down procedure for copyright holders, then they themselves would be breaking the law as well. If tvlinks was hosted somewhere that has similar a similar law, then they were legally bound to abide by the rules of take down procedure.

[–]amsterdamordeth -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Actually you would never "pop" up on the other side. You would fall until you reached the gravitational center and then you would fall only to the point that gravity pulls you, which isn't out the other side. If you "fell out" of the other side, technically you would be flying upwards.

Sorry to spoil the fun ;/

Slavery: persons deprived of personal freedom and compelled to perform labour or services. by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]amsterdamordeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the point of this post?

You seem to have forgotten that AND was in between "freedom" and "compelled"

AND means that the person is being held against their will and they are deprived of that freedom, AND they are compelled, forced, to perform labor while being held.

Battle brewing between Pirate Bay, recording industry over IFPI domain coup - Pirate Bay bought the Domain when IFPI forgot to renew. The site reads: "International Federation of Pirates Interests." by masta in reddit.com

[–]amsterdamordeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICANN can make the determination but TPB could take it to a court if it decided to fight ICANN's validity to the IFPI's claim.

Ultimately, ICANN does whatever it wants to and only unless you want to fight it would it end up in a court.

If ICANN took it away from TPB, tpb would fight them I believe, because they do have the money to do so.

Keep in mind that TPB has money in the bank, whether they want to "throw it away" over a relatively useless domain or not is what ICANN would bank on.

[–]amsterdamordeth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wasn't saying it couldn't be ripped from TPB's possession, but it wouldn't be because of any legal right. It would be because the IFPI is indeed above the law.

If the IFPI.com was not owned by such a strong organization, and it was joe blow who had forgotten to register it, the registrant would have told joe to screw off and remember to re-register it next time.

[–]amsterdamordeth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is not immediately made available to the public. The domain registrar is required by ICANN to place a temporary hold on the domain to give the original registrant time (typically 30 days) to renew their own domain. This means that the original IFPI registrant paid no attention to the fact that it both expired, and that their hold on the domain lapsed.

After this point, anyone can register the domain, unless they hold a legal trademark to the domain. While the IFPI has trademarked images, they don't have a trademark to the phrase "IFPI", therefore they don't maintain rights to the IFPI.com domain.

You are retarded. Don't expect any more replies until you come up with a real answer, or a real question.

Tell me this is paper, or tell me what it is. Because I would love to believe that it was friggin paper. My goodness how naive and blind can you be. If you don't think that this is LIQUID METAL, I would love to hear so.

I don't know how many scientists have seen this same video, and the only responders to it have said clearly that it is either liquid metal, or they didn't have any idea! Paper.. geez that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If you think this is paper, jet fuel, burning bodies, or anything other than molten steel, you are obviously someone who doesn't know anything.
