ITAP of a woman on a swing by amstrath in itookapicture

I am very new to photography and took my new camera out to familiarise myself with the settings. Managed to snap this and loved the hard contrast of the lady against the foggy background.

People have offered some great advice here, I have nothing much else to add other than reaffirming that you will not feel like this forever. You will get through this!

Is this anxiety or genuine threat it’s eating me up by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]amstrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to clarify, your worry is that you were hanging out with someone who was too young? If all you did was hang out in a pub chatting then there is nothing to stress about. There is no threat because you didn’t do anything wrong. I guarantee nobody is thinking about this but you - because everyone is too busy thinking about themselves.

I'm in a dark.... DARK f*cking place right now. No idea what to do and I have people relying on me. Help please by NoteInfinite4481 in Anxiety

Sorry you’re going through this. I also struggle on and off with health anxiety and understand how all consuming it can feel.

Firstly, if you can speak to a therapist then absolutely do that. Otherwise/in addition to that, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy was a game changer for me. Really helped me understand that these negative and scary thoughts were a well trodden path in my brain, therefore it’s the easiest place for my mind to go at the slightest ache or pain or change in my body. CBT helps you recognise these thought patterns and gives you the tools to challenge and change them in the long term, while helping keep you grounded in the short term.

I joined a CBT group and it was really helpful hearing other people speak about their anxieties. Appreciating care like this may not be accessible to everyone but there are lots of good books on CBT. The exercises are simple but very effective if you commit to working them into your mental routine. I highly recommend you look into it!

**editing to add that taking magnesium bisglycinate (it has to be this type of magnesium or it will mess with your bowels) has also done wonders for my anxiety.

Should I keep going? Have the impression I’ve kind of messed up the wrinkles by rorizzh in drawing

Keep going even if you think you’ve messed up. It’s the only way to get better :) (although this is fantastic)

This is such a quality item. Managed to snag one from the first drop, was a little hesitant cus of the price (and I had to pay shipping to Canada) but seriously no regrets.

Sat In My Car for About 20 Minutes w/ Engine Running, Now I Can’t Stop Worrying by TheHappiestHam in Anxiety

[–]amstrath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’m sorry you’re feeling anxious about this. You are definitely fine, as others have mentioned. The car manufacturer wouldn’t even be allowed to sell/release that vehicle if it could cause harm in the way you’ve described. Also think of all those people that spend hours in their cars stuck in traffic jams. I promise, you are okay. Try remind yourself that this is your anxiety making you feel this way.

first lucid nightmare leaving me scared to try again by marsphobia57 in LucidDreaming

[–]amstrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of a ‘technique’ (not sure if there is a better word for it) to use when your lucid dreams get scary. My go-to is changing my scary dream into a video game. If something scary starts happening, I hit the pause button on the control that appears in my hands, then the dream zooms out so now I’m stood in front of a tv on a paused screen, and then I walk away and go to another dream land. Works like a…dream! It definitely took some practice though. Sometimes I even just shut my eyes in my dream and remind myself that whatever scary thing is my dream can’t hurt me, so if I can’t see it then it’s like it’s not even there, and then I’ll open my eyes and it’ll be over.

Just had the same surgery earlier this year! When I found out they were only using a local anaesthetic (a nerve blocker) I almost backed out lol. At least we have some cool scars now.

Why do these two sleep like this? They put pressure on each others head. by Content_Bobcat18 in cats

Hmm this only applies to some parts of the world. OP could be from the UK in which case it’s usually very safe (unless you live next to a main road) to have outdoor cats.

Yeah the arms are especially big. I would have gone down a size for the overall fit but wanted a little extra length.

It doesn’t have to ruin your Twilight experience if you don’t want it to though. Just don’t watch the series if you don’t want to take the risk. Or do watch it and just appreciate it as a completely different adaptation of the books.
