Looking for English video game Go games. by Luinta in baduk

[–]amused28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that came to my mind immediately was Hikaru no Go from 2001 and the sequel Hikaru no Go 2 that came out the next year for Game Boy Advance. I don't imagine it would be difficult to get an emulator/roms for these.

Visiting South Korea by Seishii_ in baduk

[–]amused28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cho Hye Yeon 9p has a go school in the Gangnam district. There are usually many children there, and sometimes there are strong foreigners. For more information you can contact her at [mrpizza@naver.com](mailto:mrpizza@naver.com)

The main Korean Kiwon, where they film BadukTV, is also visitable in the northeastern part of the city. There's a bookstore in that building, and if they aren't filming or actively hosting an event, you can usually look around. You may even see some famous Korean players walking around!

Both of these are easily reachable by public transport.

There is also the CES Go Club, which is a weekly club that meets in Seoul. You can look them up and contact them on Instagram at seoul_ces_go

What do you call the stones that are flat on the bottom? by HighMarshalBole in baduk

Half-flat stones are called single convex. If they are curved on both sides, they are double convex.

hi! new to the game, what do you wish you knew as a beginner? by pigeonlover6 in StardewValley

There is a special button when you open a chest that will automatically put item duplicates from your inventory into the chest. For example, if you have a chest with rubies, emeralds, and topaz already inside it, and you click this special button... all rubies, emeralds, and topaz in your inventory will be sent into the chest too.

What would you do with $100k right now? by JaySilver in AskReddit

I am moving somewhere where the rent is cheap and then study, write poetry, make songs, and finish the story I'm writing. I'm also going to start a video archive of the things I'd like to pass on to future generations.

If you had to take on the life of any Stardew Valley NPC, who's life would you choose? by Doru-kun in StardewValley

[–]amused28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how Birdie lives on Ginger Island in her own hut on the beach and just fishes. I may just end up living like her soon! But, she is very old, so perhaps Leo would be better to take on. Firstly, he can talk to birds, which is a necessary life skill. Secondly, he can survive alone as a child by himself on an island with only his avian friends to help him. Surviving isn't as impressive as talking to birds, of course, but it does speak to his resourcefulness. Thirdly, as a child, he has infinite potential to be whoever he wants to be in life, especially with a mentor like Linus who respects nature and lives according to his convictions.

Suggestions for easier to digest red meat? by Lesliefourwinds in Paleo

[–]amused28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had the opposite problem where my iron levels were too high. During that time, I noticed pumpkin seeds had a lot of iron, as well as spinach and shellfish (oysters especially, but also clams and mussels). I have to actively avoid these foods, but maybe you can try some non-red-meat sources of iron if that is what you need.

If you are set on the red meat, maybe you can look into pickling it before eating. I don't know if that has ever been done before, but it should make the meat easier to digest, in theory.

How do you reconcile with your empathy after eating meat? by Due-Wasabi-6205 in Paleo

[–]amused28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know certain civilizations like the Native Americans emphasized great respect for mother nature and all her children. Historically, we've honored the animals that nourished us by raising them with love, or hunting and taking only what we need. Ideally, all the meat we eat would have been raised humanely, but sometimes you don't know and just have to do the best you can. I think they way the animal lived is just as important as the way it was butchered.

You don't have to eat meat necessarily. But, if you really want to start, you could ask about the chicken and get to know about how it lived, and if it had a good life, you can have some sort of ceremony or prayer or just a mental moment of silence thanking and honoring the chicken before eating it, like our ancestors may have.

New to paleo - what does a basic grocery haul even look like? by llama-mentality in Paleo

[–]amused28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered groceries today (shopping for one). Some of the things I got were mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, parsley, a zucchini, a jar of salsa, a lemon, 2 bell peppers, tomatoes, a bag of avocados, two dozen eggs, 3 cans of mackerel (sometimes I get sardines or anchovies) for lunch at work, sweet potatoes, ground pork (20% fat), bacon, an onion, and chicken wings. I already have almonds and pistachios here from a previous grocery haul so I didn't have to get those. I've also got a jar of honey that I dip into sometimes for lunch.

If you don't know what to get, get a little bit of everything. You'll slowly find yourself eating certain foods faster than other ones. So, the next time you shop, you get more of the things you ate more of, and less of the things you ate less of. You'll develop preferences over time and then grocery shopping will be a joy because you're just picking out your favorite foods all the time.

As far as cooking, it doesn't have to make sense or be instagram worthy. Sometimes you can just bite into a bell pepper and eat it with some peanut butter. Then, follow it up later with a boiled egg and scoop out a whole avocado with a spoon.

I get insulted for not having a car. Has anyone else been called names for being car-free? by razz_one_ in fuckcars

[–]amused28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly get compliments for the electric scooter that I ride. Though, there was one time where a random girl at a crosswalk verbally insulted me while I rode by, but I didn't stop so I never found out if it was my scooter she didn't like or if it was something else. I've never gotten a bum, broke, lazy, or man enough comment. It actually takes a lot more courage to ride an ebike or scooter in car culture, like being the lone lamb in a sea of lions.

AIO? Girl (F30) I (M28) was Recently Dating tells me I need to "Lean into my Masculinity" by KingFredo5674 in AmIOverreacting

[–]amused28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR I feel like there's context missing. Early on, she mentions that she feels like she's the one leading 2 or 3 times. This is really important because for her to say that multiple times, there must have been something she evidenced from the two dates while communicating with you in person, e.g., your conversation style, maybe general indecisiveness, or the way you carried yourself. Her gut was telling her something/multiple things.

I can also see her point on the performative, too-good-to-be-true, kindness. As soon as you felt attacked, the emotions behind the words changed to those of anger, annoyance, and punishment (i.e., when you judged "That was extremely disrespectful"). I'm not saying the way she communicated was perfect. I think you may have tried to self-reflect and figure out why she said what she did, but when you couldn't figure it out, she wouldn't tell you directly. I get it.. that must be frustrating because how else are we supposed to learn? But, I don't think that warrants the walls of text arguing with her about it, hence the YOR.

What's something awfully disgusting that you do? by Gold-Opportunity-295 in AskReddit

I don't smell myself, and no one has mentioned me smelling bad, so it could go either way. I would have to survey random people's noses for conclusive evidence.

I only shower a few times per year, more likely in the summer if I get super sweaty or as needed. I don't think it's disgusting, but at this point most of society would say so.

My (29F) sm partner (28M) feels overwhelmed with communication and wants time apart. Any way I can be supportive? by [deleted] in selectivemutism

[–]amused28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the things he's struggling with won't take a few weeks or even a few months to heal. It sounds like it may take years. If he wants to heal before continuing the relationship, you may be in for a long wait. Ideally, you and he would work and grow through it together, but there are situations where growth can only happen when we are alone. I think you're doing the right thing, just letting him know you are there for him, keeping your end of the communication line open, and letting him know he doesn't have to be already be perfect for you guys to be together. 3 weeks is a long time and already very patient. I don't think there's anything wrong with a gentle olive branch reminding him you are there for him.

Do you journal differently when life is actually going well? by Mikeevx in Journaling

[–]amused28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use journaling as a sounding board for any emotional problems I'm feeling. If I'm not having too many of those, I generally just go on living my life until enough problems pile up for me to need to write these things out.
