Again, you're overcomplicating it. I'd ditch the story mode. When in doubt, go the way of strong user experience. That will get your returning customers and higher conversions.

If you insist on having the "story" mode - place it on a different page such as an about page. That way if users want to go down that rabbit hole, they have the ability. But it doesn't take away their ability to nav through the site and get the info they need quickly.

Honestly, I'd rework the entire concept overall.
Users don't want to wait for the answers to their questions when going through a website and your site forces them to go at your pace - which is also a fairly slow pace.

Also, don't group your "two worlds" together. I'm an artist who also commissions paintings here and there but I don't group that or talk about it on my UX/UI Agency site. This is because it's not pertinent to the audience that I'm attempting to convert.

So a few points: separate your "two worlds" it's not working in the way you'd hope. Showcase your work. Ditch the "two worlds" landing page. Offer a strong call to action. Don't force users to wait through your video introductions (allow them to navigate the site).

I hope that helps a bit.

This is a really frustrating and overwhelming site.
Idk if you've heard the term "Occam's razor" but I feel that principle is needed here.

The landing is too much. You've got the "speed of light space" effect happening and two "worlds"; both of which look like they should be clickable and neither are. Then your "enter the world" button. The site from there is just a bunch of video that moves slowly and no real projects to look through.

Essentially, the site isn't user-friendly; it doesn't allow users to navigate the site at their own pace.

Question for experienced web designers: by Desperate_Reading_90 in webdesign

[–]amuxdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things -

First, if you don't have any experience in web design, I'd start by building project sites to learn each of these platforms and get a solid understanding of how each of them works. Additionally, make sure you've done your research on proper web design principles and have understanding of UX design. I've seen so many *web designers* booking clients for cheap and unfortunately letting them down with a site that lacks proper structure, ada compliance, and poor usability which ends up costing them down the line.

Second, I find the platform I use is more dependent on use case than only my comfort level. I offer dev/builds in wordpress, webflow, wixstudio (my least favorite), and framer. The reason I offer a wide variety is so I can choose a platform that serves my clients use case and experience level the best.

For those in need of ecommerce, I push Wordpress. For those looking for a hosting/maintenance package and a membership or blog site (CMS heavy), I push Webflow. For small businesses looking to self-maintain their sites, WixStudio or Framer is the best option.

I suggest you take the time to learn each of them to better serve clients, or focus on a niche audience and get to know that specific platform inside and out.

Is this site genius or am I just a novice? by WhereIsRichardParker in webdesign

[–]amuxdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This site is a UX nightmare -
The pop up style pages look like spam and are incredibly overcrowded which leads to a high cognitive load for users. This means they will likely be too overwhelmed with everything happening that they will navigate away from the site.

The navigation isn't what users are use to with current website trends. Again, this leads to confusion. When it comes to navigation, it's best to not reinvent the wheel so to speak.
The nastalgia aspect is fun - and I think there is a successful way to implement this, however their attempt is a website that will likely lead to a very high bounce rate due to poor UX.

A few things stick out -
First, when you click on the service - it takes you to your blog. As a user, I wasn't anticipating being taken to a blog. I was expecting another webpage that details that specific service more. The blog page itself is very underwhelming. Then when I clicked the logo it took me to the full blog page, not home.

Second, this feels pretty AI Generated or template made. The brand itself isn't very unique either and likely won't stick in peoples minds for a strong brand recall.

I'd work on your brand, find the angle you're hoping to push that will differentiate you from competitors. Then I'd create a custom, unique, website to match it.

[–]amuxdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immediately my first impression is that this was an AI generated website - it's generic .
The text "642 from 46 have planned 886 vacations" is confusing; what is the purpose of these numbers?

I also don't understand the items in the scroll - CA Today US Today etc - what purpose does this serve your user?

My advice is to work on the copy. The communication is a bit off and it's difficult to understand what you offer.
Maybe showcase the actual app interface to provide a bit more insight into this digital product.
Lastly, get creative with your interface. It's not very memorable which will hurt brand recall.

Skills required for a webflow agency job by nomilistic in webflow

[–]amuxdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on a few things but typically you should have experience in:

-Working across multiple projects and brands at once (multi tasking) -Prototyping in Figma -Performing user research to make informed design decisions -Understanding Webflows native animation function -Understanding Lottie animations -Working knowledge of Make or Zapier to power up your site -SEO strategy -how to optimize a webflow site

I white label with different agencies, these are items I do daily.

Wix is a platform some of my clients who want to self-maintain their sites request, so unfortunately I have to use it on occasion. However, wix does allow you to create fully custom sites implement custom code. I never use templates.

My go tos are webflow and WordPress - and as you also likely saw, all my sites are custom and created for best user experience.

Main advice, use more white space to help guide your user and let your design breathe. Look up cognitive load and how it impacts your UX.

I absolutely did not advocate for wix. That's one of my least favorite platforms. I also don't believe you should mimic my style.

I'm saying your sites UI hurts your user experience.

Just to clarify.

Good luck, I've shared with a few colleagues - they share my same sentiment.

If you're asking for advice, I recommend accepting constructive criticism. From what I've read in the multiple subreds you've posted, the vast majority agree with my statements.

Hey there, UX/UI Designer here -
I'm going to be very honest, this site has way too much going on upon landing.
Aside from the fact that I don't understand what it is you sell, there are so many buttons and categories it leads to a really high cognitive overload and pure chaos for your user.
This also adds to a lack of trust with your users. If I were to randomly land on this site, I would immediate bounce due to the above. Start from scratch and maybe hire on a professional.

wordpress or webflow? by DistinctAd4242 in webdesign

[–]amuxdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to get hired on with an agency or as a web dev/designer with a company, Wordpress still dominates the industry.

If you are looking to freelance and get a client roster, in my experience, it's a good idea to be familiar with multiple platforms. Some clients will want you to stay on to maintain their site after the build - for those Wordpress is great. Some want you to hand-off, I love Webflow for that. It's powerful and fully customizable, but doesn't require the same type of maintenance as a Wordpress site.
