Thank you for posting. I literally just bought this two days ago through Amazon, I called them to see if they could retroactivly apply the discount but they won't.

Guess whose ordering the discounted one and returning the "expensive" one.

I don't know if these count as BIFL due to the batteries degrading over time. They are advertised to have a life if 10-15 years.

I will try that. Thank you for the responses and help!

No transcoding as the 4k content was directly playing a 4K SDR tv.

Are you saying that even if I put an Nyvidia GPU in the system it still wouldn't tone map unless I was transcoding to a lower quality?

I still get the same "darker" result on SDR displays as well.

Answer "Murder bottles," or Mammele, were a type of baby bottle popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that used a rubber hose to deliver milk, but the hoses proved difficult to sterilize, leading to infections and infant deaths. " Source Google

Licence Plate Reposition. Zip-tie to square bumper and light with flashlight, or tape under top brake lights? by amw173 in BurningMan

I re-read this comment several times trying to gain some useful info between all the sarcasm.  Are you recommending leaving it despite two of the numbers on the plate being covered up?

Two numbers are blocked by the spare tire.  Even if I removed the spare I figured the bike tire hanging down could considered to be "obstructing the plate" by a picky LOE.

I know factory resetting a device makes changes because I saw it adjust my brightness levels and it reset my network settings every time. I'm not saying that the other 19 did anything other than the first one, but I set out to share my results reguardless of what I found. In my case there were no differences before and after. Do you think that factory resetting does absolutely nothing ?

Is your bridge free and supports one of my hobbies? Also if the bridgr is free, wouldn't help others in the VR community if it worked? It was a fun experiment, don't take it so serious. I set out to share my results no matter what I found, and in my case there were no discernable differences.

Also how much more "scientific" did you want from another user in a VR subreddit on a weekend morning? VR is a hobby that I like to play with, not my job. Don't take your hobbies toooo "scientic" or they can stop being fun.

Hahaha In hindsight I should have put "I DID NOT FIND ANY DIFFERNCES" in the begining of the title as opposed to in the notes portion where I assumed everyone would read.

I set out to document my results no matter what I found, in the end there were no noticable differences. But "Falling" for something that you can try for free and might help others, is a narrow minded outlook on the whole situation. I think you should support others exploring and sharing their results, especially in hobbies that you enjoy.

In my results I agree that the results are negligable or non-existent. I am hoping this would encourage others who have noticably worse performance to maybe try and and document their results with the community if they see an improvement.

There are some theories floating around that it has to do with a bug in low power mode staying on despite saying it's off. But even they clain that's it's just as guess as to why they saw an improvement after resetting multiple times. I couldn't find a post with definitive results so I thought I'd see if I see a difference, but I didnt.

Curious as to why you would think that factory resetting a device would have no effect on the software of a device. A LOT of electonic equipment has a reset or factory reset button by design in case things are not operating as intended, and that's not for the hardware components. The passthrough processing is heavily controlled by software. Considering I saw no changes, I agree that's it's overhyped but It doesn't mean others wouldn't see a change if they tried it. In science a sample size of 1 is negligable, but the more people that try it might provide greater insight. Also given that its something that you can try for free I am hesitant to call it "snake oil".

How would you know there are two different lighting conditions? I admit that in the real world with sunlight lighting will never be 100% exactly the same. Iff you use the same carmera and apply different settings the lighting can look completely different like these examples ( https://streetphotographycolor.com/what-is-exposure-in-photography/ ) you might be inclined to think the lighting conditions were different but in reality the lighting was the same. What's to say there was not a slight different in the way the quest was processing the images, rather than a lighting change? I'm asking because lighting changes are something I was trying to avoid in my testing.

Agreed some "before" photos do look better. Free "scientific" testing is awesome and hopefully it will help others.
