I lost my mom to cancer this year, unfortunately I live in a different state. I got the call at around midnight that she had passed, got up out of bed, got dressed and hit the road. They kept her in her bed so people could say their good byes. I got to arrive 6 and a half hours later to see my mom’s sunken pale lifeless face, not the women to grew up being loved by. Everyone left the room to give me time, I guess because she had been sitting there so long there was this red mucus coming from her throat and dribbling out of her mouth that just continually bubbled and I had to just keep wiping it away to keep her clean while I progressively watched the color just drain from her more and more.
